Google will tell you all you need to know, in detail.

Short, short version...
the GT's floating around are 2v SOHC (Single Overhead Cam) engines
the Mach1/Cobra's are 4v DOHC (Dual Overhead Cam) Engines

And no, 4v does not describe liters of displacement. V8 GTs, Mach1, and similar year cobras are all 4.6L (281ci), with the exception of the 5.0L (302ci)
