Feedback on 4:10 gears opposed to 3:73s
I currently have 3:73s on my 97 Cobra and and i am so used to it already (tha acceleration mainly)...after hearing all tha hype bout 4:10s i was wondering wats your guys take on it...are 4:10s worth it?...
oh yeah and if i do decide to go 4:10s my friends knows a shop were they will charge me $275 is that good? thanx

Im not sure i called around and got prices from 500 - 800. Which is nuts since i have EVERYTHING. Mine may be so much cause Im putting in 31 spline axles and a Auburn Posi and the 4.10s. I may just end up doing it myself.

When changing the gears your shop should not charge you to put a 31 swap in there. Just the gear/oil install.

I agree with not going to 4.10s from 3.73s, but if you want to make the jump to 4.30 then go for it. I wish that I would have.

Yeah not much difference betweeen 3.73 and 4.10. As stated above Id go to 4.30, or even 4.56 if you dont do a lot of highway driving. My buddy has 4.56s in his mach and if it wasnt for the fact he drives it on rare occasion and drag races it he'd have 4.30s.

thats wat i hear, but ill stick to 373s and save up for alluminum driveshaft, i already got manifold spacer, im on a quest to buy every bolt on haha

I'd spend that money on headers if I were you and you didn't have them. That or drag radials and light weight weld wheels if you're racing.
But for people doing this modification to start then 4.10 minimum. I would have went higher if I knew I wasn't going to over gear the car for future modifications.The best thing to do to your car is have a plan. If you're feeling 3.73 aren't powerful enough just pretend you planned for a D1-SC and do that next.
