if it fits im sure it would be really close not to mention breaking a halfshaft on the launch.

It's all about tire compound with the IRS.

Really? Slicks and hard launches are not what break the halfshafts (atleast not commonly). Axle hop is what MURDERS them. Drag radials and street tires are prone to axle hop. Slicks and DOT slicks atr bias ply instaed of a radial. They absorb a lot more of the shock on the launch then a DR or street tire does.

The Cobra IRS can take VERY hard launches as long as there is hop.

It's more related to the tire type then the compound

Regardless of how much the IRS can really take, I completely agee with you. I swapped the IRS out of mine probably within the first month of ownership.

Besides, its an 85lb weight savings to ditch the IRS. These cars need as much weight off as possible!

how wide of a tire are you planning on? I have 28x10.50 with a 5.5 backspacing. The fender lips are rolled and its close.

I currently run a 26x10.5x16 and plan to step up to a 28" this spring. 5k rpm launches with no issues. Just need to get some bags for the rear springs to help with the irs squat.
