Question

Help with picking birthday mod for 99 Cobra

I know you guys get this all the time but bare with me I'm having one heck of a time which way to go with this. Right now the car is stock aside from full exhaust with an X-pipe, cats removed, and flows.

I was thinking for my birthday I would either order myself a Diablo Sport tuner (from RPM outlet) for some extra ponies (and to turn off rear O2s' to get rid of SES) or JLT CAI and MIL-Eliminators, they both will end up costing me the same but for the life of me I can't make up my mind. so any input? would also accept other ideas around the same price range and greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Dave T

Yeah I was figuring so, I've fallen in love with tuners ever since I put an SCT on the family F-350 6.0 Turbo Diesel that thing turned into a monster. I was also leaning in that direction because the guy I bought it from put on a brand new albeit stock air filter less than 1,000 miles ago. Might as well have an excuse for the CAI not to mention it would save the $60 on the MIL-Eliminators in the long run.

Thanks for input, I'm still accepting input to be sure so fire away guys.

My vote is for the CAI; let your snake breathe a little easier. Then get the tuner a little farther down the road once you're ready to do some more serious mods.

I've got a carbon fiber JLT CAI on mine and LOVE IT!!

If you get the CAI; PM me if you want some install tips because it is a bitch to do it properly.

Not sure if it is out of your price range but headers are an awesome investment. Probably going to get more power out of them and they sound awesome. While you're down there buy the MIL eliminators and clip 'em in. Pick up a new air filter for the time being from AutoZone or something.

Out of your choices, tuner first. You are gonna need it anyway.

I don't have headers but I'm looking for a nice easy bolt on for now putting headers on these 4vs seem to be a PITA especially since when I do go to headers I will go long tube as my X-pipe is already back far enough.

Mind if I ask why you would suggest RAI over CAI?

easier install, easier to change the filters, and u can take the headlight out (2 metal tabs and the 2 bulb harnesses) in a matter of seconds when u go to the track. and the way jlt made the rai is so the air goes through the hole where the headlight and gets pushed directly to the filter.

Sorry about not updating the thread, been having major problems with my back (2 compression fractures) and I lost contact with the world. I ended up getting the Diablo tuner and love it, so nice to have SES light off and it seemed to pick up some extra Wheaties. Just wish I would have gone with American Muscle over RPMoutlet, they screwed me on the "free overnight shipping" ended up having to pay $30 extra to get it here for my birthday.
