If you're into to doing bolt-ons, a GT has a lot more options. Heck, you can't even find an aftermarket intake for a 4V that's not made of sheet metal. With the Cobra and Mach 1, you're pretty much jumping straight into getting boosty.

Now mind you, I'm just talking motors here.
This may be true; but is it also true that for anything you do to a 2V, doing that same mod for a 4V would produce more HP?

Pretty much. And most mods cost more too if they can't be taken from a GT to a Mach/Cobra. You can go the motor route on a 4V to mod it but it costs more because the motor has to be brought out to do most mods and the fact there are 4 cams instead of 2.

Assuming you can find (and afford) the parts to do the same mod, sure.

True. But you can spend all the money you want on bolt-one for a 2v and just hope you are as fast as a stock 4v.

True if all you're concerned about is the results.

For the same money as a 4v, though, you could buy a 2v and put a blower on it.

I'm not saying that a 2v is better. I'm just saying that it's cheaper to modify, and easier to find parts for, so if your goal is to have relatively inexpensive projects, it might be more fun to mod the GT, as you can do it anytime you've got a couple hundred bucks laying around.

There's always a faster car.

I can understand completely what Rev is saying. Preach on!

Aftermarket for the Mustang bastard child (the 01 Cobra) is pretty much non existant compared to the GT. If you want something that you can truely learn on, build and have fun with, not worry about being the fastest on the block, and not want to have to cash in all that change you have sitting in the 5 gallon water jug, then going the 2V route is a VERY smart thing to do.

If you dont know how its quick and easy...

Some can peek through the engine bay with the hood up and others have to crawl under the car and look above the headers.

Basically you'll find a diamond hatch pattern under the intake, and above the headers if you have a WAP. It will be a square hatch pattern for the Teksid.

Even though I know mine is a Teksid I decided to look one day and had to crawl under there to get a good look. Just look right above where the headers connect and you'll see which you have.
