03 04 cobra termi


Does any one know or has anyone put a completely stock 03 or 04 cobra on a dyno? I know theyre rated for 390 but i heard that they were underrateed. true?

I have seen anywhere from 360 to 390 at the wheel on a bonestock Cobra.

When I had my dyno'd in stock form other than a Steeda CAI - dyno at HPP Racing 419 RWHP 387RWTQ. After 2.76 upper pulley and plugs, it pulled 467 RWHP 468 RWTQ. Have the graph.

Its because the 99 Cobras (I think 99, might have been 96) were overrated. So they had recalls on them. Had to give them high flow cats, and a little more aggresive tune to make up the differance.

The Bullitts were rated low for insureance purposes.

The recall consisted of a different PCM tune, better flowing exhaust, and an extrude honed intake.

The intake was the major cause for the power loss. The production units had too mucg casting flash.

The average stock one dynoes around 360. I have seen them as high as 390 stock.

A friends put down 429 with a CAI and a catted X. Not the highest, but one of the higher ones out there. It also put down 509 SAE with a steg st4 port and a 2.8 upper pulley only. Iv'e gotten a 10.91 @ 126 out of it so far with the best MPH run being an 11.1 @ 130 (he lets me take it to the local private track rentals if mine's down)

Well technically the horsepower was overrated. Thats why they needed to do higher flowing cats, a tune and the intake. They didnt intentionaly do that.

EXACTLY
The pre production cars made the power. The production cars didn't. There was a problem with the power the cars were making and they fixed it.


If ford just left the cars alone (did not come up with the "fix") and the power they made was it, then you could say that they were over rated.

That doesnt make sence, they WERE over rated, thats why they had to fix the problem to make them make the horsepower they were rated for. It was a mistake, but still overrated.

Like the 03/04 Cobras are underated, there not recalling them and making them make less power. But there still underrated.

Yes, they WERE over-rated. Most had the fix, the ones that did not get the fix are over-rated. You stated the Bullitts are under-rated, they are still only 2V and will never see 300HP without Cams and/or heads.
