wanting to buy a 96 cobra
so a local dealership here in town has a 96 mystic cobra 140000 miles not to worried about the price but im worried about the motor.
how long till it needs a rebuild any major problems i need to worry about or anything in general that would steer me away from a high mileage cobra |

as long as the car has been takin care of (Tune-ups) it should last longer.
I would def drive it around test the t-45 trans. Those trans are known for being the weak point. If its not smokin or ticking that motor should have lots of life left in it. |

It really depends on its current state. Pay to have an independant shop do a compression and leakdown test. If all the cyls are within spec, and within 10% of each other, it should be good to go as long as you take care of it.
Change the oil when needed and if you do major mods make sure it has a safe tune.

Transmission could be ready to go.
You may need a valve job. Your IMRC may be filthy. If neither of these prove to be the case you have a good car on your hands. To be honest I'd be more concerned about the asking price and condition of the body. If that's a 140,000 mile car with a pristine body (doubt it) the you have a good deal. A rebuild shouldn't cost all that much to get that car back to it's 1996 days for under $10,000 total. Fixed for ya, Cobra.

Valve Guide Repairs
Not dumb at all. Just a quick Google search. I'm just very nervous of performance cars with mileage - more than I should be I'm sure.
