99' Cobra ABS issues

When I first bought the car about month ago I noticed that the abs light was on and did a "test" to see if it was working and indeed it wasn't. So I did research and found out it is often the speed sensors on each wheel, so yesterday I found the time to get under the car and clean and inspect the the pickups and rings. I pulled the negative cable for 10+ minutes then said a prayer and fired it up. Much to my disappointment even though the car had not moved the the ABS light came on immediately and has stayed on after about 30 minutes of test driving to see if it would un-f#*k it's self. Anyone else have this problem or no why it would come on instantly after resetting the computer and stay on?

Thanks for your help in advance.

you can test the sensors with a DMM (digital multi-meter). I would check the connections and make sure that they havent come loose or something. Other then that IIRC the ABS system works differently then the SES codes. ABS codes are stored until they are physically erased by and ABS reader or the problem fixed.

What is the procedure for testing the sensors with the DMM? I assume I will be looking for a voltage output, is there a certain voltage in relation to the turning of the wheel that I should look for?

i can find out for you. you will also need to check the resistance between the pins on the harness to make sure that they are within range.
