Maintenance

I will be purchasing 99 Cobra here soon (as in tomorrow) and I want to read as much as possible about taking care of the car maintenance-wise. Is there a website or manual I could download that provides all of the service dates/mileage points? I'd assume some of that would be in the car's manual but I'm trying to look out for other things as well. I want to take care of this car like its my baby.

Congrats on the purchase. I hope you enjoy it. I wish I could help, but I don't know of a website that has that info listed. You might be able to find something on SVT Owners Assoc website.

once you get the car go ahead and go to your local auto parts store and grab a Haynes or Chilton manual as it will have it all in there and if ever something were need to be fixed it will have it all in there as well.

I would also suggest getting you a copy of the Ford Service Manual for more in depth things. You can probably find them for about 30-60 on ebay all day. There are 3 volumes to the 99 one. One mechanical/drivetrain, one for interior and exterior, and one for electrical.

You can also go to www.fleet.ford.com and click on the "maintenance" tab and then click "maintenance" link and you can enter the vehicle and it gives you the schedules.

Also you can download the owner's manual free if you want.

the whole manual? If so, then where? Luckily I got mine cheap but it would be cool to have a PDF file of it.

it was the 99's. The recall consisted of replacing cat-back, reflashing ECU, and replacing or acid dipping the intake manifold.

Same site I posted above. Just click the "maintenance" tab at the top, and then the little drop down menu says "owner manuals". Click there and enter you year/make/model and it'll take you to the PDF download. It goes back to 1996.

So would something like this:

Ford Mustang 1994-2004 Repair, Service, and Maintenance Manual by Haynes

Be ok? It says it does not include anything about the IRS on the 1999 models but I'm assuming it covers everything else? Anyone have this?

yeah that will be good for you as a starter. But if you want to go more in depth I would pick up the FSM or one of those CD's that you can buy off of ebay. I dont trust the later though and is why I just went with the FSM.
