Teksid or WAP block?

I know you can id which engine block you have by checking some of the patterns located on the block. Can you tell which block you have by looking at your SVT owners manual? In my owners manuel, it says "logitudinally mounted, 90-degree v8, cast aluminum cylinder block and cylinder heads". I was just wondering if I had a teksid because I believe the WAPS were made out of Iron and not aluminum. The guy I bought the car from also stated something about the block having 6 bolt mains. Can any of this info determine if I have a teksid? Thanks!

The owners manual doesn't say which block you will have but it will definitely be an all aluminum block and unless it is a very earlier 01 it will be WAPS. It's supposed to be a little bit weaker of a block. They didn't switch to cast iron until the 03-04 cobras.

if you are facing your engine and you look to the left of your alternator and underneath the intake manifold, with a flashlight, you will see either a square pattern or a diamond pattern inside the intake valley. If they are square you have a teksid, if they are diamond then you have a WAP. Technically speaking both the teskid and WAP have only 4 bolt mains with a jack screw on each side starting from outside the block for a total of 6 bolts.

I just noticed you were in N.W. Arkansas, where about? What track do you go to? I'm in Arkadelphia and my closest track is Prescott but I'm not a big fan.

damn, Sweet, nice catch. WAPs use a one time TTY side bolt where as the Teksids incorporate a side bolt to preload the side of the main cap then the jack screw goes through the side bolt to secure it. Better

Cool deal. Its just an odd one then, lol. I had Teksid's from 93, 94 and 98 mark8's, 96, 98, and 99 Cobra's and none of them looked like that, lol. Must have been one of the first runs. My 93 was probably a later run which had the same valley as the others.

I'm saying this hypothetically, but what if one decided to swap out his WAP block with a teksid? How much would one be and what would the overall swap be on a PITA scale?

just to swap blocks is not bad, longs you know what you are doing and have the little things you will need.
