i used to have 245/45's on the front of my car and 255/45's on the back. i didnt have any issues but maybe my car is a freak haha. i'd have to look at the overall heights of the tires. maybe a 255/45 would be a better match to a 315/35

I'd go with 255/40s, myself.... and I did. my 17x9s have 255/40 RA1s on them right now
![]() Now all I need is to do the 5-lug swap so I can actually put them on the car, hahaha.

The 315/35/17 and the 245/45/17 have the same sidewall height. You'd be safe with that. I think that would look killer as well.

I have 17x10s on mine, how do you find out the maximum size tire that will fit without issues of any kind? I have 285/40 on the back and regular 245/45 on the front. I'm curious cause I am thinking about changing out the rims for 18" and need to know what the maximum width/aspect they can be?

In general, you start by taking the rim width and converting it to millimeters. So, for a 10" rim, you're looking at 254mm. Based on that number, you can determine min/suggested/max tire sizes by using the following: Minimum - 100% suggested- ~120% Maximum - 130% (Some guys say 135%) Obviously, these won't get you section widths you can actually buy, so you'll have to fudge your result to the closest available tire size. So, for a 10" (254mm) rim, that gives you 255/305/325 9" (228mm) gets 235/275/295 8" (203mm) gets 205/245/265 For a cornering car, you'd want something between suggested and minimum.

yea but stock rims are 17x8 a 245 is pretty flush with it, but on a 18x9 a 245 tire leaves tha lip to exposed

I would never call 245s flush if they're mounted on an 8" rim. The tire is going to stick out 3/4" of an inch past the wheel on both sides.

I think 16x7, with optional 17x8s.
Ford uses 225/55s as the stock size tire on the 16x7s, and 245/45s on the 17x8s.

I have 255/45's on my 9.5's". 245/45 will suit a 9" just fine. Remember, we're only talking 1cm. The difference between 9" and 9.5" is 12.25cm.

I have 245/45/17s on my 17x9s, and 315/35/17s on my 17x10.5s with no issues.
