4v with T45?

well i plan to do a termie swap here in the next few months, but i have figured that the motor without trans is much cheaper (usually). I eventually plan on swaping the trans out with a stalled C4, but in the time being will the 45 be ok?

It should be fine. The gears in the t45 are pretty strong. It is the shift mechanisims that are somewhat failure prone. If it has held up so far, you will probably be allright with it behind the Cobra motor.

It's iffy at that power level without a rebuilt T-45. You might go 2 years or 2 months. Way too many variables.

My advice....

Dont overclutch the car.
Run a softer sidewall tire to absorb more shock.
Get a well balanced driveshaft with the proper pinion angle.
Dont drop the clutch at 6K especially if you have good traction, and let the rpm drop a hair between your 1st to 2nd shift. Not saying to granny it but dont go all pro slamming into 2nd 50-100 rpm from redline.

I'm not saying you need to do any of this for it not to break, but if you're worried and a tranny failure would really rock your world financially possibly leaving you without a car...... I'd follow that advice.

Have fun and keep us updated on your swap

very sound advice right there. I had the unfortunate experience of good traction and slamming it at redline and grenaded the tranny 6 months after my build. didnt want to go with a t56 so i just got her rebuilt with promotion parts. I did the same thing with my old fox's t-5 and thought i had learned my lesson but nope

how much did the promotion rebuild cost you? was it rebuilt to stock specs or upgraded for a higher HP application?
