check engine light came on....
Hey guys I was doing a little driving around today. Will admit was running my car a little harder than usually. But still prob was only running around 4-5k rpm's. Never went past 80 mph. At once point I was accelerating my car just sorta quit on me. If I had to describe it felt like when you hit the rev limit the engine turns off. Felt just like that. I look down at my dash and see the service engine light come on and flash for about a minute before turning it's self off. Car seemed fine but... What would cause that to happen and anything wrong that I should have it look into more from a mechanic?

I would have that code read, its still in memory. A handheld tuner is the best thing you can have ex: SCT, superchips etc.

I do have a sct tuner. So plug it in and it should give me a code? Far as misfires detected that referring to spark plugs or...? Sorry I'm not the best with car mechanics.

it honestly can be a number of things from fuel, plugs, COP's... etc... best thing to do is to start with the small stuff and go from there. Pull the codes, if there is any, and let us know what youve got.

Okay i have two codes....
P0234 Description: Turbo/supercharger tc/sc over boost condition P0306 Description: Cylinder #6 misfire detected. What should I do and how bad are these two. Thinking misfire on the cylinder is prob the worst of the two.

Pull the plug on cyl 6 and see how shitty it is lol. If not I'd check the coilpack. Start there for the misfire. Cheapest first
![]() As for the P0234 let me look into it.

+1, whens the last time you changed your plugs? pull them, change them if need be and then take coil 6 and swap it with another to see if the code follows the coil. If it does then you know what it is. Cricket had the same problem with his car and, IIRC, it was attributed to bad plugs.

I'll have to get back to ya man. I'm swamped with school and work; I barely have enough time to fix my car sometimes
![]() Lol, but we'll figure something out. Worst comes to worst Primo and I will walk you through checking the plugs out

Well one of my neighbor's who does some mechanical work look at the car. He mentioned I'd have to do quite a bit of unbolting just to get to the plugs. He also mention the throttle cable was loose. I noticed it before but just how loose or tight should that be? I had 2 mechanics look over the car before buying it in December. Probably haven't even put 500miles on it sense owning her.

On top of each valve cover there are 2 cover plates that hide the COP's and plugs. The D/S one has 32 valve on it while the P/S one is just plain. there are 2 10mm bolts holding each one on. Remove them and place them aside. With the P/S you may have to disconnect the intake tube assembly in order to get access to it. Not hard at all. Now when you get the covers off pull off the COP's and arrange them somewhere so that you know where they went this way you can tell if that #6 coil is bad later on. When you get these off move the harness aside. Now take you a ratchet with and extension and a 5/8" spark plug socket and take the plugs out. If they are hard just turn it a little at a time to break them loose. Once you get them out check to see their condition or post pics up here. Now get new plugs and put a little anti-sieze on them. Now to put everything back together is just the opposite but this time take the #6 coil and swap it out with another one so that you can see if the code comes back and if and when it does if it followed the COP that you swapped out. EX... if you swap out the #6 coil with the #7 and you get a code for a misfire on #7 cylinder then you know you have a bad coil.
