ugh... am I worrying too much?

So, before I had posted about getting poor gas milage. I used to get 9/10 city and 17/18 highway. I did a fuel filter and plug change and its up to about 11/12 city and 20/22 highway. its better... I figured, this isnt a small engine, thats probably close to normal.

but mid/near end january I got an oil change. Ive added 2 quarts since, and now it needs seriously another 3 to get it back to full when I looked today. theres no dripping and it doesnt burn blue smoke. is this normal?

I hate doing repairs... but the LAST thing I want is my engine at 65k miles taking a crap cause im not addressing something the previous owner did.

So in just over a month you have gone through 5 quarts? This is NOT normal. I change my oil every 5k and am still within the full tolerances everytime.

Yeah the oil is deff not good... My 03 GT is virtually stock and I get 11/12 mph in the city, and thats driving very very conservative, the whole tank. I think my cats are shot though...need to rip em off

It might be leaking under pressure? im pretty sure what happened to mine. It only leaked when driving, so it didnt leave a spot in the driveway...which is kinda why my car is screwed for another month or so

Check the oil filter make sure it isnt loose, or crooked. Might even make sure you didnt accidentally leave the old o-ring in when you replaced it last

Same damn thing just happened to me. Pulled the filter off this weekend; the new one I just put on a few weeks ago and put another brand new filter and gasket on. No problems now. Just a weird bad gasket/filter which is normally rare, but is not unheard of.

If it's leaking out at all there should be something visible whether it be on the ground or on the undercarriage, however you can be burning through it and just not really noticing the smoke as it could be very light. I would think you are burning through it since you say there is no leak on the ground, 5qts of oil leaking out would definitely show itself somewhere.

no ticking or spinning that I can hear. I dont know what these engines should fully sound like I guess though, since this is the only v8 stang ive really been around. I know theres nothing for ticking happening. Im letting the car sit for the next 24 hours, some with it running. Hopefully I can find something.

Btw- the cold might be making me think the smoke is a different color. Ill keep ya posted when it warms up a bit. I know theres no blueish hue to it, which usually means oil.... right?
