I have an 04 Mach 1 and prior to being 25 and married I was paying around $130 a month I believe. Now that I'm over 25 and married I'm paying $85 a month. But really the best thing you can do is call your insurance provider and competitors and say I'm looking at a ____ car. Can you give me a quote as to what it would cost me. The answers you find here aren't going to help you too much.

Ok, I'm 19. and just went from an 02 sixxer to an 01 Cobra vert. My insurance only went up about 300$ a year, and I carry comprehensive coverage. I priced insurance on tons of car before I bought it though. The main thing that makes costs go up, isn't necessarily that the car is a v8 over a v6, but it's more about the age of the car. ie. an 07 sixxer was going to run me quite a bit higher than the 01 Cobra.

Oh and once you get up to Termi's the prices jumped up significantly.

But like Mach Boy said, make sure you check with your company first. They're all different

Weird because I was in the same situation last month. I was looking at selling my 6er and getting a 32v v8 mustang. First wanted an 01 cobra and then my mom checked insurace, I'm 18 with no wrecks or tickets, and it was ridiculous. So I started looking at 99-04 gts and when I got close to buying one, my mom found this other place to insure a mach 1 for a lot cheaper, but still pretty expensive.

My parents weren't going to pay much more than they've been paying for insurance, but because she found a different place, it made it possible for me to look at Mach 1s.

Also, the insurance was still too high right now, but because I turn 19 in 2 months, it will go down drastically. So for the next 2 months I will have to give them about 50 bucks a month to cover most the difference, so 100 total for those 2 months that the insurance is still high. PLUS getting a loan of 10k financing for 5 years is 190 a month. It's a HUGE commitment that you have to be ready for and even though I know I will be able to afford it and have back up plans, it still is worrying me that I will have a monthly payment for 5 years.

Also what Mach Boy said, it will get to be about normal once you hit 25. Before then it's always going to be higher than average even with a clean record.

The only REAL way to find out is by getting a quote.
The quote will depend on your record, age,the coverage you want, and the car. They don't care if it is modded or not.

It might be because I'm still on my parents insurance and they listed the Cobra as my mom's car and I'm on her Hyundai Sonata.

you shouldnt have a blown cobra at your age (i shouldnt be talking) especially not a kb or whipple

there is a big jump from a 6er to a gt then get to termi then pullied termi then turbo/kb/whipple termi.

my insurance is just under $3000 a year for full coverage my buddy who is also 19 with a base model rsx has 6 points on his liscense plus the 3 he started with and numerous accidents and such his is over $7000 a year

I pay <$70 a month for my 01 Vert. However I am 34 with no accidents or tickets.

That is full coverage with a $500 deductible.

No tickets, never pulled over, no accidents, etc. etc. CLEAN record of 4 years driving ( im 20) in college i pay essentially nothing for my 97 gt for just liability its 500 bucks a year. yes. 500 bucks a year.

id look at a 96-98 cobra for you....just my opinion..older car (possibly don't have to take emissions depending on your state, thats a + and lower insurance)

just my .02 cents

i wont even go into my list of tickets and offenses. Lets just say that I was terminated from State farm for being a big liability. Have been to jail for a couple of the offenses. 4 accidents in which none were my fault. All this happened when i was younger though 17-25. 32 now and pay 120 a month for 4 cars, full coverage on 3, 0 deductible, rental, window, etc. My truck just only has liability.

Well to the guy who thinks I can't handle my brother has a full blown foxbody and I race it whenever I can, and he is making close to 700hp at the wheels, so I'm pretty sure I can handle it but anyways I will call my company in a little bit.

I don't think anyone here is saying "you can't handle a big horsepower car." I think what their saying is can you handle the responsibility of having a big horsepower car and not doing something stupid with it. All of us older guys can say we know what it was like to be younger and having adrenaline flowing through our veins doing stupid shit. At some point you grow up a little and realize you need to calm down a little. I'm not saying you're like this, but I guarantee 90+% of the other younger people out there are.
