Operation killer chiller is complete

My bud Travis and I completed the killer chiller install last weekend. We ran into a few minor issues. I'll say this before Travis comes in........Travis asked me if I inspected all the O rings before hooking up the a/c lines. I said Yes. I did inspect all of them but did not remove the O ring on the peanut fitting. Well it started leaking and we had to hit the ford house to get a replacement. He will never let me live it down We also ended up having a very very very tiny leak near one of the fittings on the box as you can see here in the pics. We were extremely lucky to have found it before putting the bumper back on...........otherwise I would have been going crazy trying to find the leak a month down the road when my a/c stopped working.

our buddy Nick and his dad run a radiator repair shop and quickly fixed the leak for us...........Thankfully I had bought 6 cans of es12 industrial so we still had half of it left to refill the a/c system.

Here we are running the vac on the a/c system. With es12 industrial, it doesnt react to moisture like r134a does so we only had to pull 10 in hg of vac. By the time we put 3 cans of es12 industrial into the a/c system the intercooler reservoir was getting so cold it started sweating like a fat lady walking around wal-mart.

I snapped this shot while we had the car sitting in the garage waiting for the box to be fixed. I thought it looked cool.

I took this shot after we got everything working.........this was after 5 minutes of driving like a sane individual in traffic. You can see that the iat2's are actually lower than the iat1's. It took some hard pulls to get the iat2's above iat1's. the charge temp never went much above 100 and would quickly fall back down after some part throttle cruising.

I couldnt be happier with the setup. Joe Kincaid (kincaid performance) is a top notch guy and helped greatly when it came to the few minor issues we had........I had bought a gen 1 kit from Lethal and decided to upgrade to the gen 2 line kit (doesnt require any cutting of lines). I had leftover fittings and hose from the gen 1 kit and Joe said to send it back and he would give me a refund for the leftover parts since he could use them for future kits. He also wanted to pay me back for whatever the cost was to repair the box. Top notch customer service and a wealth of knowledge. Overall the kit was a pretty easy install and the results are great!

I really liked how you included the o-ring story i had so much fun busting you on that!!

Guys, the icy res is very nice! The install is not bad at all, and their instructions are extremly detailed, extremly.

And about Joe's customer service, yes he is amazing. Brandon put him on speaker phone and he was bending over backwards to make the one little problem we had right with brandon. Brandon had to keep him calmed down kinda, cause he wanted to be SO exteremly helpful we couldnt talk about anything Lol I can honestly say ive never dealt with a nicer salesman that knew his stuff before in my life.

It makes the coolant so cold its ridiculous. We let the car run for about fifteen minutes with the coolant cycling pretty much the whole time. When we took the cap off the reservoir we could stick our hand in the coolant and it was ICE cold.

And the mounting spot is great, it fits into the foam support so there is no extra room needed for mounting one up.

I figured you would get a kick out of the O ring comment Travis........Yes Joe was great. He told me he was sorry for the leak in the box like 20 times and made me some offers of discounts on a new drag kit they are coming out with that were entirely too nice to pass up. The funny thing was the only reason we called was to make sure we could have the box fixed here vs. sending it back to him. We werent upset about anything.

By the time everything was operational it was too late to come by the studio and the following day I had some 24 hour stomach bug that was nasty nasty stuff that I'm sure you didnt want to get exposed to..........I've gotta run and get my nephew and niece their birthday gifts before I get called for work. If I'm not called by the time I get done with that I'll swing by the studio here after a bit.

Yeah; can't decide if I want to buy a swap now, run it until winter, and then rebuild her w/ some forged internals. Just a crap load of money to think about right now ya know

Is it a noticeable difference forcefed? Whipples run cooler than Eatons anyways so I am sure I would definitely benefit from this kit.

I havent really had a chance to really "test" it out on the street. For me the proof will be at the road track and drag strip. Yes the whipple's are known for being more efficient than the heatons but IMO anyone will benefit from from the colder IAT2's this provides.

I'll update this thread as time goes by and I have a chance to datalog, dyno, and run the car through different real life scenarios.
