Cobra build
My father and i have have been toying with doing a performance mustang cobra build for a while and now i'm getting serious. Would you give me your recomendations? This is what i have so far.
Base: 03-04 shell with wiring and computres Engine Monitoring: HKS Motor: 4.6 Teksid FI- Twin turbo Garrett t3-60 with turbine of A/R: 1.06 (also could you explain what the A/R mean) Transmission: TKO-600 Heads: 03-04 Cobra heads (port and polished) Intake: Sullivan Intake Manifold Cams: Yet to be determined (probably from Comp Cams) Rear end: 200 series Suspension: IRS RPM Limit Goal:7,000 rpm I would also like to run this on a low octane fuel...so if less boost is necessary then so be it ![]() What i really want from this build is to have a very very very reliable 4.6 that could get as high as 30 mpg when not into the boost costing on the highway. I am looking at topping out of the boost at around 16 psi. I would like almost no boost from idle to 2500rpm (fuel mileage) (i know it sounds stupid but it WILL be driven). Also i would like to a very tall rear end. (again for fuel mileage). I would like to make around 500 hp and i would like for it to be extremely streetable as well. Please i am open to options and for any input as long as its not extremely negative. Also should i wait and get a Coyote 5.0? Thank you! You can meet your goals easy with the exception of the mileage. Get a set of custom grind cams to maximize the potential out of your car.
The new 5.0 is almost at 30mpg and the GT3 5.3L is making 560HP N/A (but that's a race car).

Go with a SRA. Why keep IRS..if will hold you back. IMHO.
The block and PP heads is a nice combo if you. The stock cobra IRON block will take more power tho. But the Teskid does a good job too. I think around 800hp. Like Mach Boy said...costom cams will do you well too. But a good set of turbo cams will compliment it nice as well from a decent cams company. You will still want to run a 3:27 to 3:55 gear ratio with a turbo setup(more load on the motor for a better spool on the turbos) so with a 6 speed your gas milage should be to bad. Redline wise...that depends on where you make power and such. You can spin 7k but you may be past your rpm range of power.
