Diff cover issues

Having some problems removing the old one. Some very stubborn bolts. The two that larger ones that go on the end of the diff cover and connect it to the IRS. I'm trying to loosen those up, but since thats the part that tore the mount on the IRS just moves with it. Any tips on getting those off? Also it says to torque the bolts down to 80 ft lbs for the main caps, but the bolts on the diff cover itself are pretty easy to remove and the directions also say toque down to 10 ft/lbs. Little confused onto which bolts I torque down to 10 ft/lbs and which ones I torque down to 80 ft/lbs.

This is going to sound real "hillbilly" but I just got mine nice and snug. Don't want to overtighten them. Zero problems.

Don't know what to tell you on the two bolts. It's been awhile since I removed mine.

Those two longer bolts that go through to the rear differential bushing are a PAIN. Ford uses a thread locker and I had to use a breaker bar the entire way on those. When you do get them out, use a drill with a wire brush attachment to get it all off; use blue thread lock when putting them back in. 80 lbs., as I recall, are on those two bolts. The differential cover bolts are like 10 pounds or so. I did this job last summer. The rubber bushings are really soft and it's no wonder the differential moves around so much. I replaced with poly and did a Billet Flow IRS brace, too. Hope you get those babies out.

Good luck..........
