how much will GT500 hold up to?


just curious....i've looked around and havent found it. What will the stock internals/block hold up b4 going poof?

not that i'm gonna be buying a new car anytime soon, but when it does come time, i'm thinking of going with used 06-07 gt500 instead of a 2011 GT. i'm sure the GT isnt gonna hold up to much more than 500 rwp safely. just curious what the gt500 tops out at safely

holy hell that's a lot of power. But teh stock internals are all forged, right? So I guess that makes sense.

for the gt500 just get some sticky tires and youll be satisfied for a while...and you can pretty much get one pretty cheap

The rods found in the Mach 1's are the same weak powdered metal rods found in all 4.6 liter motor's sans the 03/04 cobra. The GT500 rods are stronger than that. Plus the the rods in the 4.6's will never hold 700+

Alot of gt500's have over 700rwhp. I only hear about rods breaking when they have 800+ rwhp and it's usually due to tune. I have over 600 so we'll see how well she holds up when I get back

You do know the Mach1s and 03 04 Cobras come with Manely rods that are rated at 700hp and there has been allot of Cobras with 700 to 1000hp running these stock rods for more than a year and have never broken or have had any problems. The Shelbys Gt500s are running Mahle rods which are stronger and could easily hold 800hp to 1000hp all day long with the right tune.

You do know that you have wrong info right? The termi's have the manley forged H-beam rods but the mach's have the same powdered rods as the gt's and pre-termi cobra's as I said in my previous post. Do some more research before you dog people who are right. As for the I-beams not H-beams in the Shelby's they are good but not as good as the termi forged H-beams.

Proof positive as you can see here in a picture of my stock rod/piston combo out of my Mach 1 when I tore it down. notice the powdered gt type rods not forged H-beams.
