I've been noticing this issue but when its hot outside and the sun is beating on my car it takes a long time to start like yesturday it was really hot and the sun was beamin on my car in the parkin lot, it like try to start but takes a while to turn over and the service engine light came on, then went away in the afternoon.. which was kind of strange... today was a cool day and my car started fine... So any ideas?? Thanks for your input......And yea im in florida s0o0o summer time is already here -___-

do you have aftermarket fuel rails? I had a similar issues after installing my full lethal/fore fuel system. I think it is due to the rails vapor locking after the fuel runs back and the rails fill with vapor..............since I no longer have the pprv in the tank due to it being replaced with the fore tophat some have suggested that I get a russell check valve to put in between the tophat and fuel filter. Also some say cycling the key on and off several times before trying to start the car will help the issue.

I'm seeing the same issue on my 99 Cobra. It's not real bad, but taking longer than I'd like to start on warm days, and no check engine light. I'm gonna try new plugs before I worry too much about it.

I'm assuming you only fill up with premium.

A couple of possibilities that will cause hard hot starts are bad timing or a bad starter.

Are you sure it's just the ambient temperature affecting it? Meaning, is the engine operating temperature affecting how it starts?

New NGK plugs are on order. I'll let you know if issue clears when I get them installed.

I got the new plugs in last night. It was pretty hot out today and the car started right up without any hesitation.

I haven't had any issues since and it's been consistently hot here for awhile. Even restarting with the engine hot hasn't been a problem.

You might be having other electrical problems, maybe a dirty connector or a cold solder joint. I'm an electronics technician and I really hate intermittent issues like that. Unless you have a way to apply pinpoint cooling and heating to specific areas in your ignition circuitry, it can be very hard to find the problem. If you care to identify the main components in your ignition you can use canned air to cool the individual parts by holding the can upside down when spraying.

But what is hot for you? Hot for you might be a lot different than hot in Orlando.

Also many 4v's need summer and winter tunes since our engines are kinda temperamental.
