Odd Happenings w/ Car. Input Welcome

First, let me start off by saying that I have owned this car for right about 2 years now. In that 2 year span, this problem has happened to me three different times (including today). It always appears to be random, but it does the same thing each time.

Heading home from my girlfriends house this morning to get ready for work. Car is driving fine. I pull up to a red light, and the car is in neutral. I notice right away that the RPM's are low. Typically the car idles around 800 RPM, but now it's around 450-500 RPM. Light turns green, I go, car accelerates fine. I pull up to another light, same thing. Take off, everything acts normal. No sputtering, surging, etc. Pull up to the next light, put the car in neutral as I'm slowing down and the car dies before I even come to a complete stop. BUT, the car starts right back up, no problem. Again, take off and everything appears normal. Pull up to another light (a lot of stop lights on my route) and again, dies before I even come to a complete stop. But once again, the car starts right up without hessitation and takes off. Pull up to the final light, pop the car in neutral, sure enough it starts to die, so I hit the throttle and the car stays running, but the RPM's start to fall again. And when I finally get home, pull up to the house....dies.....

I wasn't real worried though, because as I said, this has happened to me twice before and each time the car will run perfectly after sitting for just a minute. So, sure enough, I go in the house, shit, shower, and shave, get back in the car. She starts right back up, and I drive to work with ZERO problems. Idle is normal, car never dies or acts up.

I'm baffled on this one. It's so strange that it just happens randomly. Just three times now in the two years I'v had the car. I wasn't beating the piss out of her or anything. It was just a short commute, not like I just put her through a 500 mile road trip or anything. And it's the same everytime. Put the car in neutral and the RPM's drop. Drive a little bit and the car will now die when in neutral. Shut the car off and let it sit for a minute and she runs fine.

I don't know if I should be worried or not. Each time of the three times this has happened the car starts right back up with no problem and will run fine after sitting for a few minutes. I just don't want to ignore this though and end up with a bigger problem later down the road, because obviousely SOMETHING is not right here.

Sooooo, yeah guys any input or thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks Brandon. You know I've wanted to get it re-tuned for awhile so this will give me an excuse to do so sooner than later. Might go from 2.93 to 2.76 while I'm at it.

i have a similar issue with mine. It isn't dyno tuned so I know that's part of it, but it goes away if I change plugs and fuel filter. So I change them every 6 months and I don't seem to have the issues.
