BBK throttle body for 96-98 Cobras..
Hi all, I've searched and searched and have come upon several posts varying about getting a BBK throttlebody or not for the 96-98 cobras. Some Ive heard great stories about and other posts ive heard that they fug your whole throttle up..
Pretty soon I'll be getting the BBk Cai, and I'd like to get maybe a throttlebody too. What are your guys oppionions on getting a 62 or 65? I was looking to get the 65? My car isnt going to get a s/c anytime soon but I will be doing alot pof bolt ons here soon to it, like alum driveshaft, new ignition system, cai, dyno tune, etc. BBK Twin 65mm Throttle Body (96-01 Cobra, 01 Bullitt, and Mach 1) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping! The horror stories about the throttle bodies are true but the problems are mainly caused by lack of tuning and loss of velocity due to a throttle body being too big. as you may already know the 4V makes most of it's power on the top end. this is due to the velocity of air inside of the intake increasing as the RPM's climb. if you put too big of a throttle body on a 4v, it never gets the chance to build air velocity due to there being no vacuum inside of the intake. This is why you don't hear alot of S/C guys complaining about an aftermarket TB. the S/C builds air velocity before the throttle body and therefore eliminates flatline problem associated with lack of velocity. Hope I helped. JB |

i have a twin 62 on my 98 cobra. it works just fine. its ported. so heres what i suggest. get the 62, and when you get ur supercharger or whatever then port yours. best of both worlds!

Whenever the exhaust leaving the cylinder pulls a vacuum on the cylinder, it is called scavenging. The idea is to put as much air and fuel into the cylinder as possible. So when you use a bigger tube on the exhaust, you should be able to use a bigger throttle body to flow more air into the cylinder. by there being a slightly lower cylinder pressure, the velocity picks up that much more allowing the car to take a deeper breath with every rotation.
Any Questions? |

If you are planning on getting supercharger then you should just hold off on the tbody untill you get the supercharger and then get an accufab single blade. That is the best option for a supercharged 96-98 cobra intake. All you have to do is cut out the plenmum to match...its easy.

You have to cut the center section out of the intake plenum where the throttle body mounts to the intake. it has two holes and you have to make it one big oval.
I dont agree with the Accufab Special TB. You can get a Dragon Performance Oval TB for 100 less and it is a better piece of equipment. Most people have never heard of them. This is the third time that I have mentioned them and probably the third time somebody will say something like " Dragon Performance...Who's That?" The part number that you would need for a 96-98 4V is 600-2. Check this out |

i only have a BBK twin 62 because i fvcked up my stocker trying to port it and this was the 1st available replacement i could get for $100 the same day from a buddy of mine. it will make alot more intake nosie than a stock TB for sure but otherwise, it wont do much else. the hardest part is setting the little screw on the butterflys in the TB. they have to be open just a hair and you will need a feeler gauge to get it right.

A link to their web page would be nice. |

yes they do...
I had to call them to see if it would work on mine but the 600-2 is supposed to work all the way to the 04 Cobra's. they just dont advertise it due to it not being a "direct fit". you can call themand see for yourself. their tech guy is really cool to talk to also
