Possibly goin to the dark side.

lol hey guys right now i have a bolt on 96 z28 m6.

im thinking about getting a 96-98 cobra.

i found one with all bolt ons and 4.10's.

just wondering what it may run in the 1/4.

ive always loved the sound of stangs and loved the looks of sn95 cobras my cousin has a 94 and 95 and i drive my buddies 02 gt all the time.

im just looking for a change honestly im still deciding bc i love my lt1 and ive learned so much about cars and working on them in general from it.

wow thats a really good deal for that car... but makes me wonder why is it so cheap. It didnt list the miles or the condition of the car just what he has on it.. Sweet cobra tho def. worth checking out.
If you can get the car to hook up i could see low 13's high 12's with street tires mid 12's with D/R's.

So long as it isn't blowing smoke or making odd noises, I'd snap that up in a heartbeat.

hate to be the one to shit on the other opinions, but no way in hell would i give up a GM for a ford. that just personal preference as well. as far as non bias opinion, both are good platforms to go off of, so its personal preference. your LT will take to mods better and is cheaper than the 4.6.

Thanks Debbie Downer. I'll agree though and the only car I'd trade for mine (cars of equal value) is a WS6 with T tops and midnight blue.

i know i love my lt1 its just the fact thats its my first car and i need to solve my opti issues but yea i doubt ill have enough money in the future for a new car anyways and my motor only has 70k on it so im sure ill end up keeping it if it doesnt give me anymore problems ive put a lot of blood sweat and tears into it so far.

Cobra looks nice, I paid $5800 for mine with around 85k on the clock (i think, can't remember). Careful with what you buy.

When I picked mine up I could tell the miles were hard earned. The rear shocks were completely shot, front control arms, bushings, compressor, throwout bearing, pressure plate, clutch, half installed steeda short throw (probably what saved my T45 shift forks to be honest), crappy, WHINING home install 4.10s in the rear (currently replacing, bigger project than I thought), shot front end springs, recalibration gear in the speedo chewed to hell, Saleen mock-up wing (not too tacky, but home fabricated fiberglass ends)...Gas smell when cranking and running for a short while, so time to check the fuel lines for leaks as well as change the plugs (please be the problem)...

This is all with less than 100k on the clock, and this guy hasn't even posted the mileage. If this guy is the same caliber as the guy that worked some on mine before I bought it, his home installs could be torture to reverse, assuming you can pick up the parts you want for cheap. Not to mention that the '96 cobras have issues with cooling, need to make sure he didn't run it hot as hell. My car, in good condition when I bought it was worth around $6500, paid $5800, and have since put in close to $1,500-$2000 in repairs, and still not where I want to be.

I'm not saying don't consider it, because I've had a blast with mine and enjoy tinkering with it. Just save yourself a headache and run it by a shop before purchasing instead of drooling over the cobra emblems like I did =).

About forgot, that cobra looks to have the same lowering kit mine has one it. It looks great but I have to take my time over anything because my mid-pipe wants to scrub on everything.

Nice setup, same rims as me too.

I made the switch from an LS1 to a Cobra and I couldn't be happier. I'd be full of shit if I didn't say I wish I had an LS1 F-body to go with it (saw a CHERY H/C Hugger Orange 99 for sale in Cali the other day for a great price) but I wouldn't get rid of my 4V for an older F-body.

Have you considered the LS1 option? Like I said, I'd be looking to dump the LT1 no matter what. And a N/A 4V Cobra would be a good route, but an LS1 Camaro or T/A would be my number 1 choice over the 94-01 Cobras.

ehh ls1 cars around here are just too expensive and the optis not that bad i just gotta find out how mine keep getting wet.

i could easily drop a 1600 into a head/cam package and a have a fun 400 rwhp dd but i dont have the time to do anything internal to any car i own thats why i figured the cobra would be fun bc the 8.8 is stronger than my 10 bolt, itd have around 300 rwhp if im not mistaken where as mine would be a little less than bc i have a b-body lt1 which has better low end torque but a little less top end.

i just mainly want that cobra bc itd have a more reliable ignition system but still be a fun muscle car to drive ya know.

I feel the same way about the same exact car, except it could've been black too. But if my credit union would've given me an auto loan on a car 8-10 years old and I found a deal on a ws6 that would be what I drove instead of the Mach. I do love my Mach but those ws6 t/as are so damn bad ass!

ws6's around here are just plain overpriced everyone wants 11k+ when they have like 100k on the odometer.

im just tired of my car breaking down it runs perfect when it does but when it rains hard the opti will somehow get wet,i just want something thats gonna be a fun bolt on car and i think a sn95 cobra is perfect bc its more in my price range..
