What are signs of bad wheel hubs, i changed my rotors and pads recently and i still get a dam squeaky sound while driving, can a seal bearing on the hubs be bad? thanx for help.

a bad wheel bearing would usually make more of a growling sound then a squeak. If you are getting a rotational squeaking sound i would first check to make sure the backing plates arent hitting the rotors. Did the sound start before or after you changed the brakes?

This may sound strange, but did you use any retainers when you put your rotors back on? A buddy of mine was having problems with a nasty squeek after he replaced his and just could not figure it out. A friend suggested pulling those off. Sure enough, it worked.

Just a simple thought that may be the trick. A lot of times it's the small things like that.

Does the noise speed up and slow down with vehicle speed? Make sure you check all the obvious stuff first. Try spinning the wheels with the front end jacked up. You need to pinpoint what side its coming from and if indeed its coming from the front.

this may sound like a dumb question, but did you use grease when you puyt them back together? I have to apply a pretty liberal amount of it to the bearings as well as pack it into the bearings. also, did you change the inside and outside pad? again another stupid question. but i have seen guys do worse.

there's a possibility that you didn't wrap the retainer pin around hub nut tight enough and the edge of the pin is touching the grease cap. this makes a extremely high pitched squeak that you wouldn't hear at high speeds.

Let me know if this helped. JB

Intersting story, and this is going to make me look like a COMPLETE FUCKING IDIOT, but yesturday MY car started to make a squel noise. I went to check it out when I got home and two of my lugs were gone and the other three were loose!!!! That could have been bad news! Glad I decided to check it out instead of just ignoring the noise. I felt like a fucking moron. I took the wheels off to paint the calipers and I guess I forgot to completely tighten that last wheel. All three other wheels are fine.
