HELP... engine swap
ok i have a 2000 mustang gt SOHC 2V and am going to swap a 2001 svt cobra 4.6 DOHC 4V engine trans wireing harness, the works. i didnt get the cobra PCM and cand find a stand alone system for that engine. and i cant get a piggy back cuz i dont have the PCM..... soooo i was wondering if anyone knew if the GT 4.6 SOHC 2v engines PCM would work if i flashed it or not? the plan for the svt cobra engine is H beam eagle rods, dished pistons, comp cams, kenny bell 2.1L supercharger and whatever else, so idk what to do about the PCM.... any advice?

it will work with a flash but you are going to need it before it will run. if I am not mistaken the wiring harness has a couple of pins swapped so you might want to compare them side to side before you go stabbing the harness in the car. also once you hook everything up, you're gonna want to disable the PATS system with your tuner and go ahead and turn off the rear 02 sensors. this will save you a CEL and heartache. otherwise its going to give you hell.

make it really easy and just use the 2v wiring harness/ECU. it really isnt that hard and it less stuff you gotta tear apart and change up. plus to use the Cobra harness, you pretty much will need the matching ECU.

use the cobra harness just for the plugs, I had to splice off the alternator connector (remove middle wire) and then also the crank timing sensor (down by the AC) use the connector from cobra but put on the GT harness, then extend all the COP's.

fyi another heads up.. when your extending your coil on plugs.. (they need to go into the 4v valve covers..) you need to reverse the polarity.

Well guys I have a 01 gt blew up on me..
bought my buddies 98 svt cobra pullin motor an trans an dropping in my car..any more specific advise ? or pics I would so greatly be thankful for.. Or if anyone has a how to guide for duimbies lol.. that would be ideal.. I mean Im mechanically inclined an all.. Jus coming from the bred of cars where I toss efi an all that bs throw a reg dizzy in an go.. ( foxbody love ) To this cops an imarcs or w/e really isnt to easy to understand lol.. So looking for anyone with experience to help an give advise.. I will b pulling motors thurs night an gona try to drop in friday hopefully but not if I dont have any more advise ? |
