build thread on my 03 cobra!!!!
ok well im going to put pics up of the motor pulled and everything tonite....
cobra had a built motor b4 it got messed up..(20 over, diamond pistons, ported heads)60lb injectors, jlt high boost, kenne bell tb,2.3 whipple 3.25 pulley made 20lbs of boost, off road x pipe with borla stinger catback... compression was built for alot of boost so it actually was to low.. they sent the guy the wrong piston so it made the compression about 8:1....car had this built motor in it when i bought it...i did all the whipple stuff... so same damn day from gettin it back tuned..(driveing it from tuner)...collant hose decides to come off and motor over heated blew head gaskets..also got so hot pistons expanded..when cooled down messed up the block you know... so got motor out now and i will tell you the plans for the built...we figure since its down might as well make it worth it now plus a lil more lol... new block same rods and crank 20 over manly pistons going to do compression 9:1 ford gt cams complete fuel system(got a great deal on one from one of my friends) bbk longtubes with x pipe 2.3 whipple 20lbs of boost cold fusion wet kit 125-150 shot full front upr suspension set up 26 spline input shaft spec stage 3 clutch( had a ram in it and its just to damn hard) also going to do a cowl hood we are shooting for around 650 on pump(not going to be a problem) and high 700 on the bottle on race gas(which isnt going to be a problem either) also going to powdercoat the valve covers and the front of the motor either red or ford wrinkle blue..car is silver on chrome 18in fr500s so should be a fun car once we get done with it even though we probably only going to spray it a few times at the texas mile this year and to bust some ass on the street during tx2k11 next year....

That's awesome man, good luck with the build. Your horsepower goals should be easily obtained with that KB. Are you using a teksid block now? Or did you find another 03 cobra block?

LOL oh right I misread ur specs. Iron block, as in a GT iron block? I hope you don't split the thing in half!

96 to 98(i believe) cobras used a teksid all aluminum block. Then ford switched over to a WAP Block for a while, then for the terminator ford went to a reinforced steel block. All of which from what I understand were not used in the GT.

99-04 gt blocks are iron blocks basically the same as the 03-04 cobra thats what i was trying to say...i know about the alum blocks also guess i should have been more specific..

Ok, but even so, I'm fairly certain that the 03-04 cobra block is much stronger than a GT block. GT blocks can only handle 450 ish horsepower from what I've read.

No all the Iron blocks can hold more than that. a lot more. Thats why all of your big companies build their short blocks that are for big power using the off the shelf production iron block. Iron blocks are good for a 1000+ all day.

the 2v's can handle it for a little while, especially if you have cams to go with the set up.

Good luck! It's gonna be an aweful waste of a good iron block when you send the exploded rods thru the sides of it.
