exhaust on my cobra...
Hey guys... Im in the mindset of making my car a little more aggressive sounding. Im thinking of picking up a O/R pipe, but dont know if its fully worth it... or if H or X would work better. I have SLP LM2 mufflers on now, and I love them... I just want it to be louder. Stock cat back and Im not doing much more to the engine... In 30+-K miles Ill be selling her.
ideas? |

An O/R pipe would def give you some more volume. I am personally a fan of the Mac Prochamber. No rasp at all. Nice smooth, throaty, deep, and louder.

ive heard that a new midpipe is pointless if I dont have a catback... is that true?
And yes, I dont really care about how much I gain. I just want some more growl... haha how much does a prochamber run? is it one of those things you only want to buy new? (example: headers) |

I personally love the sound of an x pipe but the prochamber from videos I've seen on youtube sound pretty awesome too.

The prochamber is definatly my favorite as well. The stock cat back is restrictive and if will give you a better sound if you run an aftermarket cat back because it will give you 2 1/2" piping all the back from the manifolds. Little deeper sounding for sure. You don't have to buy it new as long as it's not rusted thru or beat up real bad. There is no material in the Mac Prochamber to wear or anything so if you are buying used just look for rust or holes.

Also remember is you're removing the cats you'll need some MIL eliminators for the rear O2's!

gotcha, If I remember right, one is better to use with straight through muffler (something like that?).... is that true?

Both methods work but if you already have a tuner (or plan on getting one) it is cheaper to just flip the switch instead of buying the unnecessary equipment. You are going to get a tuner, Right?

i would go for a MAC ProChamber for sure. if you get any kind of off road pipe with that SLP you will get loud but its not gonna sound pretty at all.
between the choice of MIL's and a tuner, if you got the cash invest in an SCT Xcal3. aside from being able to turn off the rear O2's, its useful for alot of other stuff...Like reading codes when you have a check engine light.

you might not throw a code yet, but you will eventually. Luckily it doesnt hurt anything, its just letting you know your cats aren't working. Really you just turn them off or get MILs to get rid of the light so you can know when you are throwing other codes.
