New Mach...Mods?

Hey guys, new member. Im picking up my 04 Azure Mach 1 on Monday. Its got 38,000 miles on it. Its also a 5 speed. Bone stock. I'd like to mod it a bit. But its a daily driver. Can anyone hook me up with some input on what you all are running on your Stangs that are daily drivers. I dont really want to loose engine life or anything. I just wanna smoke my buddy in his stock Mach 1. So any list of popular parts, and/or links to them would be awesome! thanks guy. -Cody

gears maybe bump up to a 373 you have 355 stock which is a good street gear (your choice)and c&l makes a shaker cold air kit for your car also, and get yourself a dyno tune and that will be plenty, and good for 12's and will walk all over your buddy's stock one, fuel mileage shouldn't be affected a whole lot and one other thing get you a shifter.

Wouldn't personally spend that much money to up the gears from 3.55 to 3.73. I would post up in the 4v section if you haven't. Congrats on the Mach, and welcome to the site.

if doing gears, 4.10's minimum. 3.73's arent enough in the 4v's. i also would look into a C&L MAF and inlet, ported t/b, manifold work, and head work.

Congrats! 4:10s at a minimum if doing gears at all but other than that just midpipe, catback, cold air intake, and a tune should be more than enough to stay ahead of your friend unless of course he's a much better driver than you.

Getting 4.30's with a cobra trac lok and 31 spline moser axles put in very shortly.......I ll let you know what i think of the gear

from what ive heard 4.10-4.30 are a great gear for the mach. highway revs arent too high at all.

Get a c&l intake along with a diablo sport tunner or the other tunner stc I believe. Also get an offroad xpipe if you don't need to pass inspection if you do then get a set of catted xpipes along with your favorite mufflers. If you want you can get dumps which sound amazing.. 4:10 gears and good set of tires. Lets see what else... that pretty much your basic 12 second mach 1 setup. You could run the quater with lightly moded terminators because mach 1s tend to put down very good 0 to 60 foot times. 12.60s to 12.90 with that setup. 125shot of nitrous will greatly improve that and wont hurt a thing if done right but drivetrain will need to be beefed up.

I did C&L Mass air, C&L intake, ported TB, PHP intake spacer, Stewart Components water pump, O/R X-pipe, and mac pro dumps, steeda underdrives, aluminum DS, Steeda Tri-Ax short throw, and a Diablo tuner and that was a very nice jump. I have alot more done but that is what I would call "bolt ons" you could do with hand tools in a drive way easily in a weekend. This will give you a very nice increase and you will slaughter stock Mach's and even give some stock termi's a run at the track. Gears would be a very good idea but as was said before nothing less than 4.10's, 4v's love to breathe up top so don't waste your time and money on anything less than a 3.90. IMO

4.10 gears, off road midpipe, catback exhaust and an intake spacer will have you at over 300 to the wheels in both TQ and HP. That should give you some room to walk off a stock Mach if you can drive.

Suspension, tires, wheels, gears, exhaust, RAI, shifter, intake spacer, high flow water pump, BUT WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT INSTALL UDP'S, tb, maf, aluminum driveshaft, and flywheel are a good start.

In a nutshell.. They don't fit on the shaft quite right. This sends a vibration down the crankshaft shattering the bearings in the oil, and seizing up the engine. Even the Steeda ones which were supposedly developed with Ford aren't right. That is why my motor went down with only 4k miles on it...
