finally got some front runners!

got them yesterday and mounted the tires today. I dont have time to put them on the car today but I'll be test fitting them when I get back home later this weekend. I know they will clear stock cobra brakes so I'm hoping they will clear my stoptechs without a spacer. at minimum will hopefully only need a 1/4" slip on spacer.

I'm going to paint them black to match my diamond racing rears.

one of my slicks has always had a slow leak so I took it to be checked out. turned out it has some tiny pinhole leaks in the sidewall (circles) so I'm just SOL and will have to put air in it once a week or so.

I'll be cleaning up the TF chicanes and putting them up for sale. Not for any good reason other than going with something else.

here is a pic of the car the last time I went to the track. It should do much better with the skinny biasply up front compared to heavy radials

Sweet deal Brandon. Jesse told me there is a powder coating place here in Enid that has reasonable prices. Just thought I'd throw that out there as an option.

Too bad I already mounted up the tires. I'm just gonna rattle can them. Afterall they are just track wheels that will spend most of their life sitting in the garage.

I just bought the same wheels 100 bucks each at Summit. What size and type tire did you get for the Welds?

retail is 249 but summit has them on close out for 99.50. when they are gone you will still be able to get the exact same wheel for 249+ from race star industries

I'll have to check what size they are but I picked up a pair of the M&H biasply front runners.........they are the only 17" tire they offer.

a quick pic I took after finishing up the paint on the front runners.

I'll be test fitting them in the morning. If they clear my big stoptech front brakes I'll get some good shots of them on the car.

mocked them up this morning. gonna have to get a 1/2 to 3/4 inch spacer to get them to clear my stoptech st40 calipers. Should look pretty sinister when I get them mounted up.

thanks bro. I'm hoping I can get away with just running a 1/2" slip on spacer but I need to get some washers to stack up on the lugs so I can get an exact measurement before I order spacers. My back is killing me and it's almost impossible to get an exact measurement with a tape measure in one hand and holding a wobbling wheel with the other.

i have to run a 3/4 spacer to clear the stock cobra brakes. that and needed 3.5" studs to be able to mount them up...

and even with that stud, this is all the farther they go through the nut. and nhra rules say that the stud has to go the diameter of the stud through the nut. and this is barely legal.

you are running the smaller weld prostar correct? I think they require alot more spacer to clear stock cobra brakes than the greg weld drag star does. I've heard from some that they will clear the stock cobra calipers without a spacer. I might not be able to run a slip on 1/2 inch spacer and instead run a bolt on spacer. Wont know until my back gets to feeling better and I can stack up some washer on the lugs to get an exact measurement.

bolt on spacer? yikes. your more brave than i! your calipers are most certainly bigger than mine, so i still bet you end up with a 3/4" spacer.

trust me I dont want to run a bolt on spacer but I also dont want to get rid of my nice brakes either. What wheel studs are you running on your car? I was looking at Lethal and they have some moroso ones but I'm not sure how much longer than stock they are. Also where did you get 3/4 spacers? I can only find up to 1/2" slip on spacers (lethal or MM)

when I did a search for baer performance one of the links was to a location in AZ showing a map. I knew baer brakes made spacers.............I'll pick some up and go from there. How much of a PITA was it to press out the old wheel studs and install the new ones?
