Nitrous hound?

Hey, I was thinking, how cool would it be to have a 700rwhp 4v 4.6L nitrous car?

Lots of people have done the supercharger/turbo route, and I want to be different!

Im thinking some 80lb injectors would be a must, along with cobra crank, manley i/h beams, etc.

I just think I would be crazy to have a 2 200 shot systems.

Your thoughts? Has anyone done this much nitrous on a 4.6 before?

It could be done but its risky. Nitrous loves to melt pistons. Is a dangerous setup.

When correctly set up, nitrous can be very safe.

The top three killers are:
1. Hitting the stock rpm limiter.
The stock rev limiter is governed by fuel shut off (poof goes the engine)
2. Having the solenoid stuck open
There has gotta be a filter for the NOS before it enters the solenoid so particulates to not wedge the solenoid open.

3. Backfire
Especially with 4.6's the intakes love to pool nitrous/gas mix. Wet nitrous is not good for mod motors!

I am looking for someone with experience with heavy shots of nitrous...hello anybody?

I have seen people run 2 stage setups on mod motors. Build it properly, run nitrous controllers, and you will be fine.

The pooling comment you make will not happen with a properly installed kit, that is run at proper RPM's. I would not run anything other then a wet kit when you are tlking about having your fuel system make up for the insane amount of nitrous you want to run.

You dont have to worry about gas pooling because of your 300shot you will do direct injection. I was giving just an opinion. I run nitrous without any issues but alot of drag racing guys go with turbos and blowers because nitrous breaks shit.

I know more guys building big nitrous motors then I do big turbo motors. Nitrous is the power adder of choice it seems in central Gerogia.

And properly tuned and applied, nitrous breaks the same amount of shit as turbos and superchargers.

Why a wet system? I think you would have more control with a large set of injectors....

big shots and dry is asking for trouble.

You have a safer control over a large shot with a wet system, seperate fuel supply with the nitrous. Car goes lean, turn off the nitrous and the car is still fine,
go lean on a dry shot and the whole motor is going lean.

your best bet would be a 10 or 11:1 motor with really good internals, and a 300 shot, on a fogger with a progressive kit and a window switch that would put you really close to a 700 mark at the tires.

I concor with 86er's stament if you really want to run N20 shot or you can also run a 2 stage 150 shot with the window switch which would pull just as hard this will give you the ability to not run the second shot if you dont need it. I have always hated nitrous because of the fact the power isnt always there in the motor its in a bottle and second the bottle is done your ability to run anyone is also done and than you have to go a fill up the bottle every time its done. You will also have to run 2 20lb bottles if you want to have more than 5 to 7 good runs. And dont forget your going to need suspension, tires and transmission to hold the power.

Yea this will be a mostly strip car.

When people see a 4.6 with out a turbo/super they are like, meh 4.6's suck w/o FI

However, a 4.6 nitroused to kingdom come would be kinda surprising and different.

I have seen a lotta whippled cobras/ twin turbos etc. I have never seen something larger than a 200 shot on a 4.6...should be eye opening =)
