Need Help on Pulling my DOCH

I have everything off of the motor except for the headers. Disconnected the tranny bolts last night, but couldnt get the starter off(got 2 of the 3 bolts). I have BBK LT's an now think they will hit the K member when we try and hoist the motor. Can someone that has done this before give me some advice. I really really dont want to drop the k member, but cant get to the headers without doing it. Thanks

Have you put any thought into dropping the k member and motor out through the bottom and lift the front of the car up?

i always pulled mine from the top (with bbk Longtubes still on the motor).. Take out the elec fans, and undo the steering linkage. You should be able to get that 3rd bolt on the starter from the front of the car.. Its annoying but is one of those slow turners haha..

Make sure you have a high enough ceiling because your Cherry picker is gonna need to extend , but just work it out and up, with the occasional push and pry. But ive done 4 motors from the top, 3 with bbk longtubes on it .

Its easier if the trans if disconnected but since you say you have BBK longtubes , i take it , the trans is still on the car .

Some may say pull the K , but for me ive always gone out the top and narrowed it down to start to finish in a couple hours .. keep at it

Everything is disconnected (including the tranny) except for the starter and the headers.. Say i hook the cherry picker up, and the drop the k member, and put a jack under the front of the tranny. would that work?

Also, i have not gotten there yet, but from experience where is the best place to hook the cherry picker up @?

I've yet to drop a k-member on a car but I'd imagine that would work..

And get yourself a good chain and bolt one end to the back of your driverside head and the other side to where one of your idler pullies goes on the passenger side
