99 cobra


sup guys well im deciding to get me another mustang and this time a 4v! i found a cobra local with 50k miles clean for 11.5 is this a decent price? it has a clean title. but my main question is wat do these cars run stock? and wat will they run with full bolt-ons and tires? thanks to anyone that gives advice i got a link to the car if anyone wants to see it

also is there anything i need to look for when im getting it? like recalls? and how do i tell if it has the teksid block. heres a link to the car.

Price feels high, just bought 99 vert for 10k with 46k miles.. But im fresh off the what to look for block. Have the owner call svt and make sure the "fix" was done on the car. Intake mods and ecu programming.. Also the couple of three recalls, but they should show as open recalls on the carfax i think.. Anyway,, if you can make a better deal, do it.. I'm just driving around grinning uncontrollably.. Just remember they could be a garage kept old man 50k, or at the strip every other weekend 50k, so look it over good. .Also I think you can get a comparable 01 for less than 11.5 from my shopping and they dont have the recall issues. All that said, buy it or one,, i cant imagine regretting it. Owned two days and its the most fun driving in a long time... 16 again..

all the cobras around here are above 11k with that milage carfax showed no recalls on there. so the main recalls are ecu programming and intake? if i look under the hood can i see if it has been done? edit i see that theres a blue dot on the intake manifold and a stick by the raidiator. is there anything else i should look for before i get this car?

To my knowledge, the dot and the sticker cover the "fix". Its not technically a recall,, so it wont show on carfax... The only for sure way is calling 1-800-ford-svt i think.. But everyone says it they cant imagine one without the fix at this point. But ford wontt do it free anymore. So make sure you find the dot. . If your not worried about getting "the" deal, you will love the car.. I've never had trouble negotiating the edmunds price.. Its a good reference. .Do your research on the prices. But again, its your cash,, you wont regret the car.. Search ebay, and bring in copies of what 99 cobras just sold for.. You can search recent completed auction. Print the edmunds sheet. And go in to get the best deal you can. Just dont let on how much you love the car,, because it will be really hard on the test runs not to freak and pay whatever the guy wants.. Cuz i found that part really hard.. Attached some of my research.. Best of luck,, hope ur driving a cobra next week.
As for your other questions,, they run 5.4 0-60 and 13.8 1/4 stock..I think you can get 30 or so hp from bolt-ons, n/a. But i dont know that much yet.. But if you looking for drag, i think the 03-04s are the preference. They told me the 99-01 was more of a street track car.

again,, i freakin love it.. fast enough for me..

dude the link you sent me is the car i want. its the same vin and everything wow it looks so much cleaner at this dealership its making me wonder if i wanna get it now. also i heard that the 01 cobras and mach 1 are faster then the 99 is this true?

I don't know whose faster so much,, other than a 99-01 will get smoked by a 03-04 ..Again, its all what you can buy.. i think the mach1 is a solid axle car so its going to better at drag, and the irs cobra will be better on a track. . At least you know what he paid.. Funny world.

well ive owned two gts and really dont wanna get a cobra thats as fast a 99-04 mustang gt would be very pointless for me lol i found a 04 mach 1 for 11.9 about 3 hours away might check it out. but i think im going to call the previous owner tomorrow and talk to him about the cobra and see if he had the recalls done with the pcm and ask him if it had any problems also i seen that its had 5 owners wats up with that?

Mach all the way. That price is high for a 99, especially with 5 owners. Machs>pre 03/04 Cobras.

well i talked to the previous owner and he said it was a solid car it never had any problems with him that all the recalls were done. he said he maintanced it every 3000 so im really thinking about jumping on it. in the future im getting the t56 and building it anyways.

just get a 03 04 cobra with little mods you get good results or you could get a supercharger swap with supporting hardware and be looking at 400~600 hp

The price seems high for a 99 even in Alabama. Not to offend anybody but I just dont see what people see in the mach1s. For me it would be a cobra or nothing.

A low 13 second car from the factory with the classic shaker and overall gorgeous looks? The only other car I'd want over it is an 03-04 Cobra and even then I'd still want to keep my car and just have that on the side.
