SuperChargers for Mach 1

Well I'm in the market for a supercharger I've been looking at the Vortech's and the ProChargers, i would love to put a kennebell on my car but I don't have that much money and I'm looking to keep my bottom end stock for now. What are some of the things that most of you guys are running. And what are some good Chargers out there.

Procharger P1sc kits used go for about 3k or under. some with and some without fuel systems. You can make 450rwhp really easy. Self contained and awesome customer service!

+2 for procharger. just keep it in a safe boost range the high compression will bite you if you don't

For that same 3k, you could do a complete Eaton swap. Then, if you decide to build the bottom end at some point in the future, the sky's the limit with the big Kenne Bell's and Whipple's! Or you could look around for a used KB 2.1 kit that someone is trying to sell to finance a larger blower.

The bracket will need to be fabbed most likely and it most likely won't be functional. But you can still sit it on top of the blower for the looks.

First, Kenne Bell supplies the necessary brackets to mount the shaker to the KB 2.1 Mach 1 kit. Second, the shaker gets blocked off with an included plate, to eliminate water and bugs from entering the scoop and getting all over the blower and engine! Obviously, the scoop becomes non-functional, but be realistic, ain't no way the shaker is going to supply enough air to run a twin screw blower!!

I have been running a P1 pusing just shy of 10#'s for 5 years and nearly 30K miles on my stock bottom. Another votre for the centi. I cannot prove it, but I would think the centi is easier on the stock bottom than the posi units as they buld boost much more rapidly and at a lower rpm than the centi. Again I cannot prove it, but it seems 8#'s all at once has got to put more strain on the stock bottom then say the centi which build boost proportionaly with rpm.

I've heard that trying to deal with them as a customer, and end user, can be a stressful experience. I think the best way to deal with Kenne Bell is through a shop, preferably one that has done KB installations, and has some kind of relationship with them, I know that's the way I've been working with them.

While that's a solid sounding theory, I don't think it'll pass the smell test. If your theory was correct, then there would be many more stock bottom end motors dieing from nitrous use. Nothing comes on harder than a 125shot of nitrous, which about equals the same cylinder pressures as running 8-10psi of turbo/supercharger boost. I ran a 100-125 shot on a stock block Mach 1 engine for almost 5 years and never had an ounce of trouble from it.

A properly tuned, low boost, PD supercharger should not be any harder on a motor than a centrifigal blower, or a turbo.

I'de save the extra cash and get a KB.. They are awesome.. I didn't regret mine.. Prochargers are awesome too, but nothing beats the constant torque and the sound of a KB!!! Good luck in which ever you get.. Can't wait to see some pics!!!

I agree 100% about the juice and that has always had me shaking my head in disbelief that these stock bottoms are taking that stupid amount of tq that is made off of the juice.

I think the reason that people are blowing up the centi's is because 1. they either have a bad tune, 2. they drive thier stock bottom car like it is forged and beat the snot out of it, or 3. we centi owners need rpms to build boost and I would guess we spin the motors higher than the pd guys. Again, I am no expert, just looking at it from the outside. I trust those with the experience.

My vote is with any type of positive displacement blower. Although Eaton swaps are cheap and make plenty of power, your better off saving for a real quality kit like the one KB offers.
