03 cobra question..

I've got a ported blower with a 2.76 pulley on it that i'm going to put on..question is, will i be able to drive the car to the tuner with the new eaton set up, safetly or will it damage the motor. I'm thinking that if i do not hit any boost, it will be fine. I don't have any other mods except the exhaust
thanks for any input

yup stay outta boost and you should be fine.

I would say as long as the maf isn't pegged you can run it with the stock tune...

Change the s/c oil while you are at it.

i wouldn't change the maf until you got to the tuners. you'll be ok to drive it, but STAY OUT of boost.

So i talked to the place i'm bringing it to be tuned, i'll leave the name out, don't want to start any shit...but the guy who would be tuning my car told me that he'd tune it for 450.00...well, the other guy working there, says that he has an 04 cobra, same posi port with a 2.76.. Only, he has 4 piece idler set with 2 lb lower. He brought me aside, and told me that theres no need for me to go on the dyno, that he can just load me a tune..i think i'd feel more comfortable putting it on the dyno though..

im in a similar boat. having the motor built by mmr due to 2 spun rod bearings. before i blew it the setup was 2.8 pullied eaton, exhaust, sct, fluidyne h/e, MAF and other little things.

while the motor is out and im building the shortblock ive ordered bbk lts and catted h, 60lb injectors, kp BAP, pprv delete, head cooling mod, and im getting a posi race port. im in NJ and most likely looking to get the car tuned in PA (1 1/2 hour drive). if i stay out of boost am i good as well?

i personally wouldnt do ported blower at all w out fuel mods, and a bigger maf. most people say those are minimal requirements. your eaton will be boosting somewhere in the 16-17lb range i would assume w ported blower and 2.76 pulley. then again it depends on the tune. how much hp are you looking for roughly?

*correcting my above statement. 13-15lbs of boost on ported blower w 2.7.

ok. well yeah like i said people who shoot for the 500rwhp range usually do fuel mods when porting, but its up to you. i want John Lund to tune my car, and he tunes out of Evolution Performance is Aston. So when the block is back together i will be shooting him an email.

You better go ahead and get at least a MAFia and a BAP. My pumps and MAF were both maxed with just a 2.8 upper.

Also, if you talk to the tuner he should be able to send you a email tune for the car to make it to the dyno safely.
