New Mach 1 Transmission Woes

Hey guys, just picked up a Mach 1 (white) and I am having trouble with the transmission. They guy I purchased it from said the transmission was replaced 500 miles ago ( he reused the old clutch and flywheel). When the car is rolling it shifts and goes into gear perfect, when at a dead stop the car refuses to go into gear. Not one gear will let you in, its so frustrating especially when backing into a parking space, or when you forget and pop it on to neutral at a stop light. I have to turn the car off and put it in gear and crank it up to get it back into gear. Any help or ideas would be appreciated!!! Oh yeah and the car has an adjustable clutch cable installed when he put the "new" transmission in.

I ordered a new Ford clutch cable along with the MM quadrant and adjuster, awaiting their arrival to see if it is a linkage issue.

Another tip a friend gave me was, they may have put synthetic fluid in the trans and apparently the 3650 hates synthetic? Any support on that claim?

Anyways anyone with similar experience, I would really appreciate it! I just don't understand the car shift smooth otherwise!

if it's not the cable, it can only be one other thing:

throw out bearing.

I would seek a refund/lawsuit

if it is a brand new tranny it would have had a brand new throw out bearing.

hey majorownage

do you even know what a manual transmission is? the guy told him that he reused the old clutch.. the throw out bearing is not included in a new transmission. even some clutch kits dont have the throw out bearing in it. and how did you jump into saying that it is the throw out bearing????? wtf
...
back to op.. try to adjust the clutch cable that you have on there now.. is the clutch grabing low or high? i dont think is the throw out bearing...
as for the oil.. when i got my transmission built the guy at promotion powertrain told me not to use syntetic oils of any kind. but ive seen guys running royal purple all the time.. i myself have regular automatic transmission fluid and a quart of friction modifier. if the oil that they used does not have a friction modifier then that could cause the transmission to not want to shift because the syncos are just slipping.

Yeah, I don't believe its the TOB either......

I have the new Ford cable MM adjuster and Quadrant coming Monday so I will try adjusting all that stuff then. I am going to try a fluid change if the cable adjuster and quadrant don't fix the problem. Thanks for the input, it's kinda just a waiting game till Monday night. I'll me sure to post up if that was the fix.

Thanks,
Andrew

It's part of the clutch.
