proven power combos??? any ideas?

Brand stinkin new to the site and really interested in getting back into building a great street car. i recently purchased a completely stock (well stock from svt) 03 cobra "terminator " with 25 k miles and the original tires. my question is im looking to bump up the power some, can anyone help me with a parts list that would get me going in the right direction? not super concerned with cost as this will be an on going process, timely process, just looking for proven power adders that are reliable. anything you guys can help with will be greatly appreciated. happy as hell to be here, ill try to post as often as possible.

hey man thanks a lot! i figured the intake and exhaust route to let it breath better, i also thought bout the pulley situation but how many supporting upgrades to do to deal with more air...bigger injectors, faster fuel pump, fuel regulator, ignition upgrade, timing??? so many questions. im really striving for bulletproof!!!

kenne bell makes a really nice setup. I happened to be searchin around one day for good stuff online and found what looks to be an interesting site that has some nice packages. Dont know if you can buy from them directly online but they had a number posted to reach them for ordering.

just keep it "sane"

When you start making more than doubled the horses, other parts don't like to play.

500-600 kenne bell/whipple swap and you will be delighted.
Above that you will be wanting stronger clutches, fuel pumps, etc

right now im lookin to be in the 500 -600 range, depending on how much supporting mods ill have to do, id rather not have to get into replacing engine internals or the tranny, if less then 600 is capable without major repair and will take a good amount of abuse, ill stay there.

You can run 500-550 horse on stock everything...

Yes you can pulley/port an eaton to make that much hp, but why not just get a kb or whipple?

You will be getting one soon enough anyway

no. you cant. ive only heard of my car and one other car doing that. stock MAF, injectors, and fuel pumps. no BAP either. im afraid to even spray my car in cooler weather. stop talking out of your ass. and why not? a port is what $500? whats a whipple $3500? not telling you which route to take, but you should take it from someone with first hand experience.

id be prepared to do a MAF, BAP, and injectors at a minimum. oh and your clutch is going to go too if you drive it like its meant to be. if i were you id do a 2.2 KB it would put you right in that range, they are loud as hell, look clean, and are selling for cheap on SVTP.

well it sounds like ill be swapping superchargers, kb or whipple, i saw a good deal on a procharger set up, price isnt a major issue i just want unparalleled performance, i love the whine too. i guess ill probably help the engine breathe a little easier with some headers/exhaust, im thinkin bassani o/r mid with stingger axle back. any issues with those?

procharger will not have the whine like the KB/Eaton/Whipple neither will the vortech (unless you get their new twin screw). centri blowers build boost like a turbo as where the others are instant boost and scream. do some more research about roots/centri/twin screw blowers.

as for the exhaust stingers are definitely an awesome setup (i have them) but if you plan on taking out the IRS and going with a solid rear i would hold off on the catback, as you wont be able to reuse it. if you go with a bassani o/r x you will also need to use bassani headers. as a general rule of thumb whatever mid you go with you will need matching headers from the same company.

hellion also makes some crazy single and twin kits for our cars that you can run with or without the blower on either setup.

stick to a kb or eaton unless you have 6k to blow on a turbo setup (thats not including labor)

Paxton/Procharger/Vortechs are not good for 03,04 cobras because these engines are built for positive displacement blowers. (8.5:1 compression)

This leads to horrible response low in the rpm range. (No boost and low power because of the compression ratio)

Only buy the latest model of the KB because older ones like leaking oil. Do not buy the 2.2L, I almost guarantee it leaks.

Get the newer 2.1L

Or any whipple....

do a full exhaust intake tune change your pulley and get your eaton ported it should make some pretty damn good power with that then if you still think you need more hp get a kenne bell

So much bad info. . . . So little time. . .
