Broken header bolt
Went to uninstall the h pipe and snapped the lower manifold flange bolt off on the passenger side.
It is not however a clean snap so theres room to work. is there any way i can put a nut on and back the bolt out of there? or use an easy out. I really dont want to pull the exhaust manifold. Cant afford to right now and i cant stand this horrific exhaust leak. The cobra is running like shit right now because of it. HELP!

what if i grinded down part of the flange and that gave me just enough room to slip a nut on and torque it down?

Is there enough room to get a vise grip in there? If so just clamp the vise grip down really hard and just turn it counterclockwise. It should come out with ease. My suggestion is invest in some stage 8 locking header bolts. Their like 40$ from dagostino racing and they are very strong, and won't loosen up over time.

I would suggest welding a nut on it then and removing it that way.

If you can get a small pipe wrench on there it will get it out. The pipe wrench is a great tool for getting out the shafts of broken bolts, as long as it sticks out about 1/2" or more. It its sticking out 1/4" you might give it a shot, but welding a nut on may be a better option in that case.

can i not just put a nut on there and turn the impact to tighten and just pull it out that way?

then how does it stay secure inside the flange and why would screwing a nut on to back it out be a bad idea?

....what are you guys TALKING about? it has to be connected at BOTH ends or it would just fall out...
if its a stud you can turn it counter clockwise and it will back out....if its a bolt then you should be able to rip it out the other end or turn it clockwise (counterclockwise for the bolt) and it should come out |

I have no access to a welder or a placed to take it off and weld a nut on. its why i ask if i could just grind down the flange enough to fit a nut on the stud.

I called a shop and was told it would be around 200 dollars just to weld a nut on and pull the stud out
