Question

2004 Mustang Cobra

What would you offer for a 2004 Cobra, Redfire, clean as hell, Only catback, smaller pullie and intake.. Car made 424rwhp and 456 rwtq.. 10,000 miles exactly on the odometer. My buddies dad owns it and only drives it for special events, he is one of those guys that like to keep things perfect condition. He's never raced it nor does beat on it. Car is so clean inside/out and even the under body i would eat off this thing. It hasn't seen rain either.

He said he would sell me it, to make him an offer when i am ready. What is reasonable? I don't want too offer to high or too low.

Depending on milage I'd say $22k if it's that clean. An unmolested Termi that has been babied is going to be hard to find, so maybe $24 if the mileage is decent

Oh snap, I dunno how I missed that. With 10k miles I'd offer $24k and see what he says, but I wouldn't be scared to go up a bit if he turns down $24k

No worries dude, quick reading will miss out lil details hah. Yeah i may have to try that, i honestly wouldn't think twice to go up a few grand if i can get the money up.. A car like his is 1 of a kind (meaning that low of miles and that perfect).. Not one dent or anything.

Yeah, something that clean, I was gonna say around 25K or 26K that is some pretty low miles and you know it has been babied...thats just about around the stage of it being broken in as well...its in its prime.

I am still blown away at how much these things bring. For the price you could buy a 3-4 year old GT and mod the living hell out of it.

It's basically a brand new car! I think I'd probably bow out if he wanted more than $26k just because it is 6.5-7 years old probably ('04 models come out in calendar year 2003...) That thing sounds like it's just a cherry car though.

Agreed that thing is still fresh! I would be leery of buying a used car like this if it was from anyone else. Especially if it had 60+ k on the clock..

Well if you think about it, i have a GT that is almost 4 yrs over now.. I just would much rather have that car over this one. Don't get me wrong, i love mine to death but that motor/how it sounds is pretty awesome. Its potential is insane..

Yeah, that would be too much in my opinion too..

You're right Ego, but at the same time IMO, and not too far down the road, these are gonna be collector items, well at least the 03-04 Cobra's, but thats just me...There's a reason most of them are priced so high

Maybe. A lot of guys were saying that about the early 90 ZR1s when they were paying stupid money for them. They've really softened up over the last few years.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love an 03-04 Cobra, but I'm not about to pay 25k for one when I can build a flat nasty GT for the same price.

When it comes to rare cars, you can throw the book out the window. There are three different books, and they'll all say something different.

Bottom line is; a car is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it.

even tho it is your friends dad, it is a business transaction.
it's nice that you dont want to offend the seller, but money is money and business is business.
i would try to get it as cheap as possible.

I completely agree, trust me you will never find me buying anything brand new, just for the fact that they lose much value when the shoes leave the dealer lot, ill settle for something way less and sink my money into to make it better than a stock cobra for 22K

This would be listed at around $29k at a dealer... I'd say 25k would be a good deal. Anything less would be a steal. I've looked at these things for years. I would love to hve one.

Hmm, stealerships rip people off! lol If this doesn't go through in the near future (year or so) then i will already have paid off my car and will just take a small loan to build the motor and turbo it.
