wheels
so my wife keeps askin me what kind of wheels i want. i think she wants to get me some for christmas. the only super sucky part is that the widest tire i can run on the front of my car without it rubbing is a 235. So i believe that an 8" wide tire is the widest i can go on the front. i really want a staggered wheel setup. so, what wheels would u guys recommend for my car that has an 8" wheel available for the front, and possibly a wider available in the rear? What would look good on a white 98 cobra?

do you have something done up front to prevent you from running a larger size?

when i got my car it had 275's with 18x9.5" wheels all the way around, but that was before I put the twin turbo kit on. i had to sell the wheels after i put the kit on because they rubbed the turbo downpipes. currently i have stock 97 cobra wheels on it with 235's up front and 245's in the rear, but these wheels are in ROUGH shape, my mechanic had them just layin around outside his shop for a long time and he said i could use them for free. So thats the issue, the tires end up rubbin the downpipes. i even think if i turn the wheel ALL the way in either direction now that they actually make contact with the downpipes.

damn... that does suck. you always have the option of running some wheel spacers if you want bigger. Although it may stick out a little and I myself dont like them. But its an option. What type of kit is that you are running?

i wonder if its the offset of your current wheels thats making it rub

Look up the XXR 512, they offer an 18x8'' front and 18x10'' rear, amazing looking wheels.

i dont know a lot about wheel offset and whatnot but the wheels on his car in his garage are gt500's. if theyre for an 05+ would that bring the wheel farther in or out?

if those are indeed 05 gt500 rims they will bring the wheel more inward causing it to rub.
check this site out to see how back spacing plays out. Wheel-Tire size comparer - RIMSnTIRES.com for the first one put in tire size 245/40 rim size 18x9 and offset +24 for the second put in the same tire size and rim size and offset +50 you will see what the difference looks like and see that +24= .9" and +50= 2" these are the standard offsets from the factory the first being new edge mustang and the second being 05-up

The turbo kit I'm using is a HP Performance kit. The wheels that I am currently running are a rough looking set of stock 97 cobra wheels that my mechanic said I could use.
The gt500 wheels that i had were knock offs. they came on my car when i got it. u can find them online. they were great looking wheels. tons of complements.

What is your budget? TF could set you up with any wheel style or offset you would like.
