01 Cobra 100k+ advice/info
01 Cobra with 100+k miles....
CAI, Tuner, 4.10 gears...etc Want to keep street. What do people think, turbo or Supercharger? What should I do to the engine to prepare it? rods, pistons? with this engine what do I need to replace for the power add on? 100K miles what should I check or what will probly be going soon? starter, alt, seals..etc?? what's common? Does anyone know of a place in Tampa that can do 4wheel alignment? went to tuffys today and they didn't want to do it b/c of the size of the rims/tires....didn't want to take a chance of ruining the rims..... Thanks in advance for any feedback & advice....Doing my research so I can start making a parts & budget plan for this build.... SSG Dunbar |

4.10 gears and F/I isn't a great combo IMO. 3.55's or 3.73's, your gonna have no top end. You could piece together a Centri blower kit for a few grand or go for example a new Kenne Bell kit. If the car was taken care of, 100k miles isn't that bad.

Well, if you are buying the car with that mileage I would recommend changing all the fluids (trans, brake, engine, coolant, etc) and I would also change the spark plugs, fuel filter, oil filter, etc. Go through the car and check underneath to get an idea of what things you see that need attention. Doing this basically ensures that you have a somewhat clean start and that's what you want if you plan on doing extensive mods such as F/I. As said above I would change the 4.10's to 3.55's or 3.73's (3.73's are a very popular choice). 100k miles shouldn't scare you unless it's clear that the car has been abused through that time. Again, make sure you pay attention to changing all your fluids, filters, and giving the car a thorough look over. This is not only for piece of mind but could really save you from problems down the road. Good Luck

If you're adding doing anything F/I don't worry about mileage since you'll need to build the motor anyway. I got an 01 Cobra with 65K original miles on the body and a freshly built motor with a ported eaton, which is coming off as I type this. Just dropped it yesterday at the tuner and I'm doing:
Return Fuel Sys Suspension all around (BMR) Tokico Illuminas Built Rear end with 3.73 Head cooling mod 76MM Hellion Kit K-Member and coilovers Input shaft and fresh billet syncs Billet oil pump The list just goes on and I can't remember the whole list right now, but the point is that I'll have a "brand new" car by the end of the week. So keep in mind that if you really want to do it right, you will need to spend the money. I have a T-56 in there as well, shooting for easy 700 RWHP and see how it handles for a couple of months. Good luck.

My car has 110,000 miles on it, no issues. Aside from fences falling on it and such
![]() I also run 4.10 gears. If I extract any more power I'd consider 3.73's, but damn 4.10s are just way too much fun.
