How to tell an authentic 94-95 Cobra from a fake?

Tomorrow I'm going to look at a 95 Cobra. Power's not the point of me acquiring the car, it's going to be an extra vehicle to clean up as best as possible and to sell for more, so I'm not interested in picking up another year cobra or I would be going with a Termi.

Now what is there that I can look for to see if it's an authentic SVT Cobra?

I know that they come with the hood, bumpers, and the 5.0 cobras say mustang on the back instead of Cobra.

Is there anything in the VIN that will tell me it's a cobra, or an RPO code on the door? Is there any plaque on the earlier cobras like this one that has the name of the builders like the later cobras had?

Any info would be greatly appreciated, I'm just trying to find the things that can't easily be changed that will prove it's a real cobra, because obviously bumpers, emblems and hoods can be thrown on a fake 5.0 mustang along with a cobra 5.0 intake.

Eh, I checked it out. It was a real cobra, but the guy selling it said it was in excellent condition inside and outside. As well as a clean title and runs great mechanically.

Got there and it's sitting in the back of a auto body place. My friend and I walked up to it just figured might as well get to checking everything out.

Airbags were deployed already, from the passenger side scoop on to the tail lights it was bondoed, and done horribly bad. Couldn't fit a stock scoop if you tried. Hood was a regular GT hood, headlights weren't cobra lights or even decent factory lights. Cobra badges were missing, replaced at one point with some kind of flame decal which now all was left was the residue on both fenders. SVT emblem on the back had half of the 'T' broken off.

Ugly wheels were scratched pretty bad, and then looked under the hood, and the entire front was welded together a little past the wheel wells on up. Looked like if you yanked on it hard enough the welds would break.

Here's a picture of it, I took this one and was going to take more, but I was just so annoyed with the straight out lies in the ad that I just stopped from taking anymore

When I initially called, I said I'm calling about the cobra for sale.

*silence for about 10 seconds*

"Yea I still got it"

It was some shitty asian run body shop with camaros and mustangs, and other crappy cars. You could hear them burning out in the back behind the mechanics garage too.

Who cares about all the info posted about how to tell if its real-- 94-95 cobras 8th digit in th evin is a "D". easiest way to tell. if its anything other than I "D" and its advertised as a cobra, set fire to the car, slap owner for being an idiot, walk away.
