so my mechanic is building a shelby cobra kit car. he is installing a B headed cobra motor in it with a paxton supercharger. He's looking for a trans to handle the power, and on ebay right now theres a 07-09 gt500 tr6060 tranny with a BIN for 2500 obo. The question is, will this work with a 96-98 cobra engine? does anyone know what will need changed ? i believe there will be issues with the speedometer working properly or at all. Am i correct in assuming that? thanks.

You may want to look into the T56 Magnum. It has a TQ rating of 700. Thats what I am going with in my 2003 Cobra. It will need to have the drive shaft shortened if compared to the standard T56 about an inch and a half. As far as bell housing Quicktime should be able to hook you up since the Magnum hooks up to the factory bell. From what I have read with the kit cars is they are using a Fox style clutch fork with it.

yea he considered that trans as well. But will the tr6060 work?

it will bolt up just fine, as far as the wiring, just like wiring anything else up. the shifter set up will be the long part of it all.
