coolant crossover tube or intercooler resevior?

So I understand that burping the coolant is to be done at the crossover, but if I used a huge funnel and filled it with fluid at the resevior and kept the funnel filled with fluid wouldnt that serve the same purpose as using a funnel at the crossover tube to burp? Just wondering cuz I cant get the cap off the crossover. its bein a real pain in the arse!

Another thought, I have an aftermarket intercooler with a valve, I could even use that to release excess air in system I do believe, Thoughts?

all i do is fill up the resovior and let it idle until all the air is burped in to the resovior then i do it until it stops burping air
