Stock Mach 1 looking for 650 RWHP.

I'd like a crate short block, keep stock heads but get custom cams. Built transmission. Built rear end. And for boost, I'd LIKE twins, but a single big guy would be fine.

How much would I be paying? I'm saving up now and should be ready in about 2 years to get everything done at once because if I did each Drivetrain component separate, the break-in periods would kill me if I had to do them 3 times for engine, trans, and rear.

Also, the thought of waiting for an 03 or 04 Cobra motor to drop in and change to a twin screw isn't out of the question either.

I don't understand the reason for a Cobra engine to go supercharged? All you need are forged internals, and you said you would do that with a crate block, so what am I missing here?

Well if its already set up for a super then I'd like that more.

Actually just forget that because I'm building my own turbo set up now.

76 mm turbonetics ball bearing turbo.8) Never used at $850, so I think I did pretty good.

A guy I work with now used to work in a performance shop and is going to get me a quote to get sleeved and while its apart, I'm going to get forged internals. How much can I expect to pay if he can hook me up with a good deal, and how thick of sleeves do they use on the 4.6?

As for my stock heads, how much can they flow?

Also, I remember an in depth thread about a good compression ratio for our engines, but I can find it? I remember them saying that a 9.5:1 would be completely fine, but would a 9.1:1 better?

I'm starting to realize that this number is very easily achieved...

They wanted $8,300 just for the bottom end.

I almost laughed at the guy. I'm going to get an alluminator long block and me and my master mechanic neighbor are going to take care of it.

New questions:

What will I need as far as mounts and harness and random stuff will I need to make this a smooth process? Also, can I still keep my shaker assembly? aaaand the 3650 will bolt right up to it right?

(I'll be getting the long block from Evolution unless someone can recommend a better place.)

From what I've read, anywhere is better than Evolution. The Alluminator is a forged Mach block so it will be a direct swap.

You should go with a motor based on the 5.0 big bore block. It will add to the cost some but will help make your goal easier to get.

I've still got time to think about everything. With 70 hours a week I'm starting to put away $250 a check. Granted I'll be eating noodles and it'll probably make my girlfriend want to nuter me, but I really want a car that I can say that I am absolutely proud of and can hold its own at any stoplight.

And sorry, I'm going to pass on the short block. It was either use the original block amd heads or get a crate engine. I want to keep the original engine intact because I strongly believe that the Mach 1 is going to be a collectible one day like its big brother was.

So if not Evolution, then who? Ford themselves or maybe even FRPP?

I think that an alluminator long block mixed with Hellions set-up for the turbo I have would be freakin sweet. I called them up and for $6,400 you get a LOT of stuff. Injectors, pumps, lines, piping, manifold, SUSPENSION! And way more.

So $6,800 from JEGS for the long block and $6,400 from Hellion...$13,200. Two years of saving up just for the front end... It'll be worth it.
