Are you getting a blower in the future? Can you do the work yourself?

A lot of guys like running the Comp Cams 106400. They are a stage 2 cam grind so they are still streetable if that's what you are looking for.
Look to spend $1200 for cams alone. Then you'll have to add springs, retainers, and labor in with that. It'll be in the neighborhood of $3000 for everything. Usually cams are the last thing you want to do though to finish up your build. So if you have bigger plans than just cams I'd do those first.

or you could be cheap and pick up 96-98 cobra intake cams for under 200 easily and gain 15-20hp.

96-98 cobra cams have more duration on the intake, exhaust cams are pretty much the same.

They are a direct swap. The only thing is, is it really worth it to you to drop in $100 cams, that give maybe 10hp, when you will be paying over $1000 probably closer to $1500 for the labor? That's why I asked if you could do it or not. If you can do the work yourself then yeah 96-98 Cobra intake cams are a good/cheap alternative. If you can't it's best just to save your money and get the best bang for your buck otherwise it will be a huge waste of money IMO.

15-20 with a ported intake. You'll be in the 325-340 range with Cobra cams and a ported intake vs 355-370 with aftermarket cams and that number will be higher on that range or into the 370s with a ported intake.

Or you can go over to svtperformance.com and get some used gt500 cams for 200-300 bucks. I believe those have more lift as well as a little more duration.

Don't those cams have the same profiles as the Ford GT? If that's the case it's still not worth the labor cost for what little you gain IMO.

Yeah I guess if you pay to have cams done you might as well go for larger gains. What are typical gains from a decent set of cams for a 4v?

So basically i should save up 3000 for both parts and labour and buy the better cam? Its not worth it in my books to spend 1500 for like 10-15 ponies...

Yep. Now you know why people just go blower on these cars. Once you get that 3,000 saved up your pretty close to having a blower paid for and you'll make more power.

Yeah cams hardly seem worth it when you look at it that way...blower sounds like the better bang for your buck deal
