96 Mustang Interior Swap

Starting my black leather interior swap. Picked up a dash center console door panels steering wheel door sills and kick plates for 300 and picking up airbags 1/4 panels and carpet to finish it off for 200. So for 500 ill get a black leather interior. Minus whatever i am able to sell the parts from my interior from. PM me if anyone needs or wants some grey/black interior parts. I have them all. Anyways ill post pics of the progress and show you the parts involved in the process. And for anyone wondering what you need for the swap here's a list.

Parts
Black Airbags
Black Dash
Black Seats
Black Carpet
Black Center Console
Black Door Panels
Black Door Sills
Black Door Handles
Black Kick Plates
Black Door Sills
Black Steering Wheel
Black Steering Column Pieces
Black 1/4 Panels

And that should be it. Make sure you get all the hardware too, little things like the clips for the kick plates are necessary to make a factory look, so don't forget them. Im learning first hand how important these are.

UPDATE

So most the interior is out and beginning to start swapping out the steering column and the dash wiring. Hopefully i can get the dash and steering column back in and the door and fender back on and start getting it ready for paint.

This weekend i got almost everything swapped over, dash carpet seats console steering column steering wheel and air bags, waiting to put in the rest until it gets back from paint. Im thinking about doing dark grey metallic for paint with some flat black design of some sort and red lettering on bumpers and windows. Ill try to get some pics up tonight and show the progress.

hey, where did you pick all that up from, a donor car? I have a 2000 with grey interior, but red painted jams and center and some racing seats. I want everything black like yours.

I purchased it from the same guy I got my door and fender from. His wife got layed off so he just needed money, i got it for a steal, the airbags were deployed so i had to get new airbags and in the end its going to cost me around 550 minus whatever i sell from the grey interior. Look for parts cars or people parting them out. Dont bother with people wanting too much, ik theres a guy in town where i live that wants almost 2k for the black leather interior, crazy if you ask me, hes been sitting on it for over 2 years and i asked if he would sell me just the rear seat and he wanted 300. Dont even bother with these people they are just looking to rip people off.

yeah, thats what i ran into, everybody was asking 400+ just for a rear seat, so i'll probably just delete it and find a wreck.

go to car-part.com its a junk yard search site. i found one out of a gt for 50 that i am hopefully going to pick up when the spring comes. the car is in wisc. and buried under 3 feet of snow, which sucks but i cant argue with the price.

The swap wont be complete for a little while, starting tomorrow the car goes off for paint and body work. When it gets back i can finish up with most of the interior. I am still waiting on the rear seat which will be a while since its in a car buried under 4 feet of snow in Wisconsin.

He is going to take the smaller parts and bumpers to do friday and saturday. I will get the hood, fender, and door back on friday or saturday and get him the car to do body work and paint on. Hopefully i should get it back right around the 1st of march. CANT WAIT!!!

the guy does it on the side, he works at a well known shop in town so he does a good job. He quoted me 2000 for paint, body work, underside of hood, passenger door jamb, and to do rust treatment on the bottom of the passenger fender. Hes also painting the mirrors and giving me the extra paint for touch up.

All the plastics are out for paint along with the little things. Should get them back this week. Hes been working almost 70 hours a week at work so its moving a little slower then i would like but its snowing here right now so not in too much of a rush. Hopefully he will have the car by friday and then i shold get it back by the 20th of march. Should have it all back together by the end of the month.

Car is almost all together. Waiting on the rear bumper, im having the lower section painted satin black. I got the Body parts all on and the locks in. Car looks great and is as smooth as glass. The fog lights are great. I just have to fab up my front license plate bracket and the front is complete. I love the cobra bumper it really makes a difference.
