nosediving! :(

i just bought a 2007 shelby gt500 and i love it, but the only problem im having right now is shifting precisely while im racing, it nosedives everytime i shift which causes me to lose a lot of time. All my other gts have been automatic so im kind of new at this. Any pointers or tips would help on how to shift a lot better. THanks.

I learned real fast that its hard to be a hot shot when you can't properly shift. At first I honestly never rev matched, I just waited for the rpms to drop down within something ridiculous like 400 within what I thought it was going to be. I didn't start feathering until I watched my dad drive my car. Once you get daily driving down, then just start building rpms every now and then and get the feel of listening and watching your rpms and how they drop from gear to gear. Personally, when I'm just playing around I'll, hit 4,500 rpms between shifts and that's my most controlled shifting area, which is smoother than my daily driving shifting, but when I'm going all out, I just rip through the gears as fast as I can. Weather or not that creates too much stress on components are here nor there, because if I'm doing that kind of driving than ill expect the consequences when the occur.

You are probably taking too long to shift, just take your time to get used to the car and feel comfortable with it. Just be nice with the car, fast shifts don't need to be forceful.

Actually if the front end is dropping then that's letting go of the gas before you put the clutch in which at those rpms, it'll feel like downshifting because inertia wants to move you forward, but since you're still engaged, its going to put all that stress on your gears and like I said before, it'll feel like downshifting until you put the clutch in. When you're going hard, build momentum. Don't give your engine a chance to unnecessarily drop rpms.
