get 03+ C heads a modded 99-04 intake and 96-98 cobra intake cams and you will clear that 50hp you are looking for.

on the cheap:

cobra 98 or older cams
cobra intake or gen ii mark viii intake
lightweight pressure plate
valvejob

I would highly recommend the valvejob. You can always swap intakes/exhaust.

svtperformance.com and corral.net both have a great classified section.

you could work with what you have and make 300rwhp easily.
get a 96-98 cobra intake manifold. pull the runners out and shorten them.
IMRC delete plates.
96-98 cobra cams or some aftermarket cams (your choice)
LT headers/full exhaust.
a good tune with lots of timing and you are there. if you go with some aftermarket cams, im sure you will be over 320rwhp.

DickH if i go with your mods how much rwhp am i looking at?

according to what I've researched a 98 mark VIII engine has 290 stock.

I'm trying to hit 350 rwhp n/a.

if i get some 03 cobra C heads, 98 cobra cams, a 99 intake, 4.10 gears, automatic shift kit, LT headers, and a good tune how much rwhp will i be looking at?

Going with the c heads will make it a lot easier to hit your goal. Hitting 350 with b heads will likely require you to rev the cast crank and auto transmission past where you should. Going with a c head setup like that should get you to 330ish with the usual bolt ons, then you get creative for the rest to 350. Going to be honest with you though, you shouldn't be too bothered if you cant hit it with the auto. Head over to corral and take a look at what different combinations have done before you spend any money. Official 4V Naturally Aspirated HP/TQ List - Corral.net : Ford Mustang Forums

Jims SVT (382/318 SAE). JSR (jims svt) Ported Short Runner. Ported96-98 B head/Cams.
NVENEM8U (381/323 SAE) * Mustang Dyno * B Heads with valve job/Owner Ported Short Runner intake/Competition Cams. post 260 of this thread for details.

valve job + short runner intake

the cast crank is just fine for that hp. People make 600hp on a cast crank

Yes those are examples of B heads making decent power, but thats also with fancy cams, you aren't likely to see a cobra cam b head motor making over 330 NA. Whats most important is the revs required for that power. The only broken cranks I have seen online for mod motors are cast cranks spun high. Also there is the issue of the transmission spinning too high. If he has a 4r70w then it wont agree with over 6.5k forever without swapping out the snap rings with spiral lock rings.

How much money do you have to spend on the motor?
