Drag radials

Im currently running 275 40 17s nittos is this the tire size you guys would recommend on a 96 cobra with a 17x9 rim or can I go bigger? I was it looks like im going to need some new tires before I take my car out to the track this spring Ive never had any experience with any other drag radials other than nittos. I want to go with the stickiest drag radial out there Ive read some very good things about the hoosier drag radial it just looks like a slick with 2 lines cut in it too..now I typed in 275 40 17 on jegs.com and came up with m/t, nitto, hooiser, and BF Goodrich I've personally always ran bfg radial t/a's on other cars and ive loved them as a all around tire but, since Im looking at drag radials its a different story! Price is not an issue here I just want the stickest tire I can run on the street and its just a play toy so it won't ever see rainy days.

275+40+17+drag+radials - JEGS High Performance

Same thing I was thinking while reading the first post.

You are going to get a lot of different opinions about tires, just like any other performance upgrade. Everyone likes something different for different reasons. But the M/T drag radials are typically the most popular when it comes to all out, strait line performance. They don't last NEAR as long as the Nittos, but really hook up so much better. Great for a car like yours, that is just a sunny day/weekend warrior.

ET streets are fantastic, I like my 555r's but after driving my friends termi with ET streets the hooking action is great.

have you considered buying some 16'' wheels from a older GT and getting some slicks just for the track? Could be cheaper in the long run because if your a weekend racer they will last you about two seasons, not goiing to die because of the daily driver miles picked up by drag radials on the street.

im going to say +1 on the 275 mickeys. Nittos are nice, because they are more like a really good summer tire. If you aren't going to put miles on them, and want your tires sticky, get some et streets.
