IRS Build Install

This is my build for an IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) in late 2009. My vehicle set-up is used for Road Racing/Open Track. Other mods to my car I'll post if interested.

Upgraded/Replaced Parts:

MM Delrin Upper Control Arm Bushings
MM Delrin Lower Control Arm Bushings
MM Urethane Differential Bushings
MM Urethane Subframe Bushings
MM Adjustable Rear Swaybar Endlinks
MM Low Profile IRS Subframe Bolts
MM IRS Crossmember
Motive 3.73 Ring/Pinion
Motive Bearing Kit
Detroit Locker (Eaton Truetrac) 31 Spline
Ford 31 Spline Half Shafts
Ford Aluminum Carrier
Steeda IRS Brace
MM Cross-Axis Joints (no pics/installed months after)
MM Solid Differential Bushings (no pics/installed months after)
MM Adjustable Tie-rods (no pics/installed months after)

I used the MM Specialty Tools for all the bushing removal and some persuasion from the hammer. Pictures start with the showing of the original frame and its bushings then to disassembly, upgraded build, to install. The original Drivetrain components were shattered in pieces so I only used the original frame and Control Arms.

Dude that is SICK! It's seeing pics like these that make me wish the previous owner didn't do the SRA swap and instead just upgraded the IRS. I'm jealous my friend. Was the install into the car hard or was it pretty basic/bolted right in. Also, did you need a different length driveshaft? Or is that one stock length (I'm wondering because if someday I got back to IRS if I will need a new driveshaft.)

Congrats

The install was very easy, jacked it up right into place. The driveshaft is the Ford Racing Aluminum 3.5" and yes it is the factory length. The hardest part was the removal of the oem rubber bushings and sleeves from the IRS frame and control arms.

Looks awesome. Good to see someone else actually appreciates the IRS. IRS>SRA.
